Worst memories......

Not to be a downer, but the whole best memories got me thinking about what my worst memories were (I'm usually not this depressing:)). I don't mean this to be a thread to bash wrestlers from the past, but as a sports fan, there are a lot of ups and downs as you all know. Anyways, here are some times that really bummed me out as an Iowa wrestling fan:

Metcalf vs Caldwell (obviously!)
Mena choosing top and losing the national title.
Johnny Thompson pinning Cliff Moore then standing are just admiring 13,000 completely silent hawk fans at Carver. God that sucked.
Having 10 returning all americans coming back in 91 or 92 and missing being the first team having 10AA. Someone correct me, but I think it was like Tom Ryan or someone like that who was a national champ the year before and was the only one to miss being an AA.

Mark Reiland, not Tom Ryan. But Ryan did have a huge mental lapse at Nationals in 92 in the semi's. He was wrestling Ray Miller from Arizona State and was down by one when factoring in riding time with time dwindling and he let the clock run out without taking a shot. He said afterward he thought the match was tied and did't realize Miller had riding time.

Worst memories are McIlravy losing to Maranetti, Terry losing to Kelber, and Tommy losing to Cross when all Cross did was run. At least Maranetti and Kelber actually beat Lincoln and Terry without running.

Mcllravy and Metcalf are my top two. Finals of the 1998 National Duals in Iowa City. Ushering in the Zalesky era.Minnesota 18, Iowa 17 118 - Eric Juergens (Iowa) maj. dec. Brett Lawrence, 14-5. 126 - Doug Schwab (Iowa) dec. Pat Connors, 9-5. 134 - Mark Ironside (Iowa) maj. dec. Troy Marr, 20-7. 142 - Jason Davis (MN) dec. Jeff McGinniss, 3-1 (OT). 150 - Chad Kraft (MN) dec. Kasey Gilliss, 8-3. 158 - Josh Holiday (MN) dec. Ben Uker, 9-7. 167 - Joe Williams (Iowa) dec. Zac Taylor, 5-3. 177 - Brandon Eggum (MN) dec. Paul Jenn, 7-3. 190 - Lee Fullhart (Iowa) dec. Tim Hartung, 7-6 (2 OT). Hwt - Shelton Benjamin (MN) pinned Wes Hand, 2:16.
Fullhart won a huge match against Hartung. All Wes Hand had to do was not get pinned! If I remember right, wrestling with a decent lead he locked up double underhooks for what looked like a lateral drop...

2 words... Aaron Aure!!!!!!

I never thought I would see an Iowa wrestler get stalled out of a match.
