worst coaching job of ferentz career

Doesn't Kurt's youngest have 2 more years? I'd expect him to retire when he graduates. Unfortunately, he doesn't graduate this year. :(

Anyone else nervous Kirk rides this ship into the abyss?

Similar to Fry near the end of his tenure.

Iowa could fall off into the oblivion real quick.

I think of Colorado football, they were a solid prime time worthy program. Now, they get pummeled by any team with a pulse.
The (small)optimist part of me hopes the University does not want it's fancy new football facility to go to waste.

Look at ESPN: "Big Ten woes: Bowling Green stuns Indiana."
....and not Iowa loses to Iowa State.
Tells you where the national media thinks of Iowa, these days, and how they almost expect Iowa State to win more often than not against Iowa.

I think this falls on Barta.

It seems as though Barta and the boosters are happy with a 7-5 team, and making it to a bowl game, and get their money. They don't need to step up to the next level, and it appears that there is no desire to do so. I don't have the answers, I have been a fan of Kirk's since day one. I don't know who we could get in here to do the job better. Kirk is producing what Barta and the boosters require.

This is nothing new, it's been this way for 10+ years

Sad, weak and pitiful. That's the comments I give the coaching staff on their report card to go along with the F they received for this performance.

Not going for win at OSU in 09 has to be on that list. That decision still burns 5 years later.

Kirk forever lost me that day, you don't tuck tail when you have a chance to beat a giant, you attack, attack, attack, been over Iowa Football for awhile...

I don't think you can single out a worst coaching job because he coaches every game the exact same way. If we played valley high he would try to grind out a win. The worse the opponent is, the more into a shell he goes.

Imagine if we would come out with actual game plans like we did against OSU in'09 and '13 when we play crappy teams?

Kirk was a terrible game coach in '02 and he's a terrible game coach today. The one year we were forced to not do what he wants to do we won a conference championship.

I once thought the Western Michigan loss was the worst job of coaching he'd ever done. Then Central Michigan happened. Then yesterday happened.

Anyone see a trend here?

Agreed that this was the worst, but it's really just the culmination of a terrible OC hire that has done absolutely nothing for this program.

The guy was let go form Texas for a reason, Davis is a HUGE reason for the team's failures on O. His playbook sucks.
