Never going to be explosive, but has a good skill set, can use both hands, has good touch around the rim, and shows nice form on his shot. I'm not trying to be overly negative here, but I'm honestly not sure how much he will contribute in his four years at Iowa. I hope I'm wrong and probably am, cause it is hard to tell from 2 min of video, but he will have a hard time matching up with other bigs, just based on the fact he seems athletically challenged. Again,I hope I eat alot of crow on this, but the video doesn't lie. If Gabe can ever develope an offensive skill set his athleticism will earn him the starting spot over Woodbury. Now you can rip me apart.

1. The poster you quoted said it might not translate into a ton of points as a freshman. He didn't take it any further than that.

2. Watch the second video. He's making the same plays, and running the floor well, with the rest of the nation's elite players. He took contact well and still made the shots. Made some very good passes.

I'm not concerned with the lack of elite athleticism. He's more than athletic enough, and his skills are very well-rounded. He may experience initial trouble passing out of doubles, because honestly, passing for him is easy at the HS level due to his height. But the big key is that he instantly recognizes the double team and looks for the open man. He'll quickly adjust to the higher difficulty of getting passes through. The recognition is far more important.

I couldn't have said it better. Brad may have been an All American coming out of high school but you wouldn't have know it by the way his freshman and sophomore years went at Iowa. Toward the end of his junior year he finally started to show some of his potential which eventually blossomed under Davis's tutorage.

Like I said, it is hard to tell from the video, but honestly watch it and tell me you were impressed with his physical ability. I guess I should'nt have wrote contribute. I just don't think he looks like a starter in the B1G. I guess I remember watching Jess Settles, Russ Millard and guys like that who were physcial from day one. I'm glad he chose Ia and hope he develops into an AA.

Your comparing guys who are 6'7 to a guy who 7'1. Enormous difference.

Just trust me on this, everyone else, (basketball scouts, coaches, people with average common sense, ect.) is right on this and you are wrong.

I lay much of the problems Lohaus had early in his career on poor coaching from Raveling. He could recruit like crazy, but could not coach his way out of a paper bag.

I think you just summed up George's short time at Iowa. If only Mr. Davis could have kept him on as a recruiter what a combination team that would have been.

I do have a question those of you that might know. I live down here in outer darkness (Atlanta, Georgia ) and I remember once reading how Brad Lohaus got in trouble for shop lifting. Well as you probably know if it ain't SEC news then you don't hear about it down here. What ever came out of that situation for Brad?

Actually Lohaus got in trouble for fraud on ebay of all things. He also had some trouble with a woman at a hotel. It turned into a domestic abuse case with an much younger girlfriend/baby momma. I think that has all been straightened out now.

He passes very well out of the post, and moves well around the basket, with both hands. I'm glad he's developing these skills as opposed to dunking on much smaller players in high school. Those will serve him well at Iowa. Under Fran's up tempo style, I think he'll fit in very nicely, and will get decent minutes from the start.

I like what I see here. Shooting jump hooks with both hands will be invaluable to a legit 7'1'' kid like this. Not a bad body for someone that tall either. Really very similar super long torso like Zeller. More muscle will come,but his skills will be there right away. Passing and a little dribbling is nice. No jumpshot outside of 8ft in there,but I suspect that will come also.
