Woodbury grilled on Internet; team feels differently

Some get the ball to swing it to another location.
True but that's not one of Woody's primary responsibilities in the game and if he were making swing passes, they wouldn't show up in the play-by-play. Go to ESPN, pull up the College BB page, pick any game and you will have a link to a play-by-play. That should show you how cut and dry it is.
Woodbury made layup-assist Gesell
Gesell missed shot
woodbury Foul
Woodbury made FT
etc, etc.

This thread is funny. You guys are trying to discredit me but all it has done is exposed you for how little you pay attention to the games you watch. You guys don't even know what you are watching!! How can you even comment on these games?

So a Woodbury foul counts as a touch? You are one dumb mother****er. Kill yourself.

3 touches in the first 4 minutes against Nebraska - per ESPN Play-by-play
3 touches in the first 5 mins against Iowa St
3 in the first 4 mins against FD
2 touches first 4 mins against Drake
3 in the first 4 mins against ND
1 in the first 2 minutes against Nova and he only played 15 mins total
Xavier and APB are the only 2 he didn't get touches. Couldn't find the earlier ones because ESPN/BTN situation.
Why am I the only one that noticed this?

I'd love to see what play-by-play you're looking at. The one included with the game recap only shows shots/turnovers/rebounds, and Woody's name appears once in the first four minutes of the Nebraska game.

Woody's biggest offensive strength right now is his ability to pass out of the post. I would wager that a good chunk of his touches are designed to take advantage of that. Only a moron would seriously suggest that we try to run our offense through him. We get Basabe touches, Gabe too. But our offense runs through Marble and White.

I actually have the Nebraska game on DVR, so I didn't even look that up. Just watched it from the beginning. I should have put that in the spot below.
Per ESPN PLay-by-play:
18:46 Marble made lay-up assist by Woodbury
16:37 Woodbury made layup
15:54 Woodbury missed jumper
What did I miss?

Here is my edited post. Clearly an effort was made to get Woodbury the ball. I'm done defending the point. I provided evidence that paints most of the geniuses in this thread as the clowns they are. You shouldn't go rushing right in to join them.

Dude you are easy to discredit, cause you say the dumbest sh!t ever. You said this:

I think some of that criticism is fair because his teammates try to run the offense through him.

Instead of correcting you what mean, you double down and say everyone else is dumb. Yet it is pretty simple to see that if you really think the offense runs THROUGH woody, then you are the dumb one.

Nobody disagreed with anything else in your post, as the rest was pretty spot on.

Maybe they are too busy breaking down basketball film, to bother.:p I'm sure they are supplementing their income as college basketball scouts, as their powers of perception are second to none.

Regardless, getting him touches doesn't qualify as running the offense through him.

Lightning won't back down on it. He reminds me a lot o Herby that way. He would say something silly, then double and triple down on it.

Well maybe if he didn't lose every opening tip and have more than 1 assist vs Drake he wouldn't receive his warranted criticism.

College bigs are like minor league catchers. The best ones end up being some of the most valuable players on their respective teams, but they take longer to reach their potential.

I don't see any reason to criticize. I knew he would be another inside player with 5 fouls to give as a freshman. This year he's hitting free throws, playing solid defense, running the floor well and does some things I like around the basket when he gets a touch on offense. Next year should result in a significant positive step forward. I love having him on the team and knowing he has 2 more years as a Hawk.

Nope, that one assist against Drake will always stick with him no matter what he does the rest of his career.

saying the offense goes through someone (to me) means they are the primary scoring option on the play. So you are saying that the majority of the plays are meant for woody to score. I call bs considering marble typically takes the most shots and white is usually second. So at best he is the 3rd scoring option...except gesell and Uthoff are usually 3rd and 4th in shots taken. So at best he is our 5th option on offense but he is having the offense run through him. Considering at least 2 of those 4 I listed are on the court at anytime the best he is is 3rd offensive option at any point in the game.
