Any word on Chit Chat?





Yeah, it looked bad. Chit Chat laid on floor for what seemed like forever. First she tried to walk off, but then ended up being carried off the floor. Maybe they were being overly cautious, I don't know. She was not screaming in pain, nor was she grabbing at any specific body part, but she obviously knew something was wrong.

On the play, Chit Chit was driving aggressively to the basket, trying to split 2 defenders. One of the defenders stepped on the back of the shoe, and Chit Chat's shoe came off, and she fell to the ground. Still, it was not obvious what exactly she hurt.

Iowa women's basketball said sophomore guard Chit-Chat Wright will not play vs. Miami on Saturday.

Iowa head women's basketball coach Jan Jensen updated Wright's injury status moving forward, telling the Hawkeye Radio Network in her postgame interview that Iowa will be without Wright in its upcoming game against Miami on Saturday night.

Dang yeah kinda assumed that.. Hope we'll know more soon. It didn't look good but hell I couldn't tell exactly what it even was. Wasn't sure if it was her foot/ankle when her shoe came off or her head. But it didn't look like she hit her head at least from the one replay I saw. Whatever it is I hope it's not bad and won't keep her out long.

Yeah, I know the basketball dropped on Chit Chat's face after she fell, but the fact that she had to be carried off the floor strongly suggests its something in the leg/knee/ankle/foot
 






She took two hard blows on back-to-back plays. On the defensive end she ran into a brick wall of a (legal) screen set by one of Baylor's bigs, which knocked her completely off her feet; then came down on offense and it looked to me like she fell oddly onto the front of her head hard. She was touching her head around her eye/forehead area, which is where it looked like she hit the floor to me. I'm no doc, but would assume from a distance at least a concussion; hoping not some sort of eye socket or skull fracture.

That first fall could have led to the second fall, that kind of thing does happen.

We may be seeing a defensive strategy that we'll see more of, pound her small body hard and let the chips fall where they may. Stay tuned on this one.
