Wisconsin Football Program Indiscretions?

Our HS principal wanted to expel our oldest son, who is adopted, bi-racial, bi-polar and ADHD. When the social workers stood their ground, this gentleman, and I will use that term loosely, decided to fabricate his own story late in my son's sophomore year when money allegedly turned up missing in a students locker. This HS principal, masters degree and all, submitted a falsified report to local police, full of a general kangaroo court of gobbly gook that was all sound and fury, signifying nothing. He questioned a bunch of students but didn't bother to question the football coach, who was my son's biggest ally. He did question the track coach, another ally, but twisted his words. God bless my wife, who called bullshit on the report when we were called into the local police office.

My son went on to finish high school without further incident and ended up going to state his senior year for shotput and discus. The principal moved on about two years later and has since bounced to another job, where he supposedly has been promised the superintendent job. We could have bounced him for filing a false report to the police, had we pursued it.

Those of you who are involved in adoption and foster care who are doing it right (i.e. not for the money). God bless every one of you.
I had a similar episode with my daughter. HS principal wanted to expel her and charge us with truancy for all the days she missed school. They went so far as taking us to court. Problem is the days she missed were days we had her in treatment for various things. Wife was willing to just go along with the school but I stood my ground. The day of the court appearance everything was dropped. To my knowledge this principal is still at that school, unless retired. Hats off to all the teachers out there; administrators not so much.

As a Hawk fan, I hope he is done. But as an American, I hope to Gawd that he is reinstated unless there is evidence of malfeasance beyond what was presented at the trial. These snowflakes hate, just absolutely loathe, due process. But Mr. Bochephus is entitled to it and Wisconsin, as a state entity, has a bedrock duty to provide it irregardless of what the snowflakes think. Creating millions of Angry Studies majors was a big mistake. Giving Angry Studies majors some sort of veto right on every freaking decision from boardrooms to the government will pose an existential crisis for our country.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Except I would have used "regardless", since "irregardless" isn't a word...

Really an amazing story and props to Cephus for fighting it, when there was probably 86 plea bargains offered to him like there is to any young black male.

I’m sympathetic to sexual assault victims like anyone is, but it cannot come at the expense of young men’s lives. This could have ruined his life. I fear my young daughter getting assaulted, but I also fear just as much for my 2 year old son who is black getting accused of sexual assault or any crime because on campus men are assumed to be guilty no matter what and in society black men are always assumed to be guilty.

Not to mention, black males are accused of rape by white females 3x more than white males...

IIRC, 65% of those cases come back "inconclusive or unfounded".

It's been long established (at least the perception) that the ICPD is no friend of the Hawkeyes. Does anybody know why? Could it be the IC elected officials that pull the strings?
I think it goes back to the Ohio State game I forget what year, when basically Iowa City was a giant tailgate party. The announcers loved it but I just got a feeling that it freaked out the Iowa City PD and many citizens and officials. I think a super-secret meeting of the powers that be decided it was never gonna happen again. That's when the crackdown began. It really seems with the traffic redirection, the pushing of tailgating further away from Kinnick for the students, and the general poor facilities at the stadium show the powers that be are just itching to kill the golden goose. Or at least get rid of the casual fan. I see the tickets for the Penn State game are $95 dollars face value. Really? You expect that for aftermarket tickets but from the ticket office. I only plan to see one game this year in Kinnick, hell I can get tickets for the Iowa /Wisconsin game for about $65 bucks on a ticket web site. Madison is just as close to me as Kinnick. I hope when the day comes when people stop buying overpriced tickets for games like Texas El Passo or Middle something something, and when the Big Ten revenue dries up a bit, the right people get axed.

But attendance is down nationwide...We have to jack up prices to compensate.

Actually it is, it's been used incorrectly so much that is considered a nonstandard word.

"The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however."

2007, I was there for that and it was amazing. About 300,000 people around the stadium area. Gameday was in town too. I would argue that wasn't the cause though. After the 2009 Michigan game a huge fight (by huge I mean several dozen Iowa and Michigan fans going at it) broke out in the Fieldhouse ramp, beer bottles were thrown, both full and empty. I was there, and it wasn't a good time. Sure enough the next year is when the crackdown started.

If you were at an Iowa-O$U game in 2007, it was in an alternate universe. Iowa played neither O$U, nor Michigan, in 2007.

If I would have know 20 years ago that regretting drunk decisions = being sexually assaulted, there would have been a couple ugly girls in some serious trouble.

I hogged some gal whose last name was West when I was hammered. Pictures surfaced the following Monday back in the day when you had to take film to get it developed. My shame level was very high. I said to some folks, in front of this gal, she was so big that they named a direction after her. Not my finest moment.

All I gotta say is there are some women who DO NOT have to worry about placing their drink down in a bar and leaving it for a bit. Carry on.

A good friend may try to stop you from making a mistake. A Great friend will take pictures and remind you for years to come to make sure you don't make the same mistake twice.
