Wisconsin clearly fumbled on the last play

If there wasn't a fumble then yes the refs screwed wisconsin by there not calling delay of game on asu but Wisconsin qb clearly fumbled.

He meant to kneel down bu ran into his OL and set down the ball. The announcer made some incredibly stupid statement that it wasn't a fumble because he "gave himself up"

Sorry announcer even QBs actually have to kneel you can't just say I'm down. Does anybody else have any argument for that not being a fumble

The QB's knee was down.

Sorry that guy, teh jumper is correct. Wisconsin quarterback gave himself up, and kneeled down.
Ref=stoopid.

Also, according to football rules, the ballcarrier doesn't actually have to kneel down. The play is blown dead on simulated kneel downs as well.

qb should of gave the ball to the ref not sure what he was thinking just setting it on the ground like that -- any defensive player would of done the same thing thinking it was a fumble

[h=5]Whistle blown with :15 on the clock and the referees can't get the ball set until less than :01 left on the clock?!
The referees rules the QB down, and then just watches them let the ASU defender just lay on the ball until the game is over, not allowing Wisconsin to attempt a game-winning field goal?

Yet, these same Pac 12 referees can spot the ball in 4 seconds, whenever Oregon is playing.[/h]

It was a cluster****. Note to Head Coach: always have your QB spike the ball. Problem solved.

Yeah...the game should not of been over...I'm guessing these refs will be fired. I honestly think the whole game should be thrown out and not count.

Spiking the football doesn't move the ball towards the middle of the field; it just returns to the previous spot.

Did you get the impression I was questioning your post? I was just replying to the OP. And I certainly wasn't claiming the refs were competent. I bet if Wisky had it to do over they would spike the ball rather than do whatever the heck they were trying to do. (seriously what were they trying to do?)

They were trying to kneel down in the middle of the field, spike the ball, and kick from the middle of the field.

With 18 seconds left and no timeouts they were playing with fire and putting the game in the refs hands. That's the type of stupid I expect from us, not them. I bet Wisconsins sports-writers are wondering why they just didn't spike the ball or a quick throw to the edn zone and then run the field goal unit on if that didn't work. At least that way if you bobble the snap you might be able to run another play. I agree Wisky was screwed by the refs. But Wisky got a huge break on that long pass play where the receiver stepped out of bounds. Just count your blessings and don't get greedy by milking the clock down to 3 seconds when you are on the road.

Completely idiotic play by Wisconsin. Why even run that play, when you don't haven enough time? They would have never run the ball with the RB, what the heck makes them think that just because the QB downs the ball, that the opponents and refs should hurry up and set up the ball for them to spike it? Bad, bad, bad coaching decision on that one.

Big ten looking to be a laughing stock again this year. OSU and NW seem to be the only teams worth a darn. Not looking forward to those two games.

Yes I will agree that it was a cluster ******, however they were doing what many, many, mnay teams have done in the past, present and will do in the future and that was position the ball for the kicker. However IMO you don't do that unless you have a TIMEOUT left, to much stupid can happen and we saw that stupid come to life.

Exactly, this is probably the best description I've seen regarding that end of game situation. I understand the intent but far too many things can go wrong without a TO. When you are stupid enough to try something like that, you need to be prepared for a stupid ref to let an ASU player to lay on the ball.

As KF would say, you get what you deserve.

refs screwed the pooch big time at the end of that game, they had zero control and as Pac 10 officals that didn't surprise me they let ASU get away with their crap.
