Agreed. Not that my opinion matters, but I think this is the correct punishment, but Riley shouldn't have been suspended, but had his life made a living hell at camp. Maybe I'll get my way when/if I get elected head coach in 2020.I'm not so sure about the consistency...

I agree that Riley got hosed, but he also technically violated the same conduct code and is subject to the same punishment.
I think we should all agree that both the young men will get off pretty easy in the larger view of things.
Well I suppose he outta be counting his lucky stars... I would have guessed he'd get more than that...
Time will tell yeah. We'll see. How good of a lawyer can his family get him?Yes he should. In more ways then one he is very lucky.
He will probably be the beneficiary of the deferred judgement program as well. 9 months probation, pay the fine, and attend classes and it all goes away. Hope he learns from this close call.
He didn't get hosed. The punishment is pretty fitting for a 1st. The other one's are the issue.
Time will tell yeah. We'll see. How good of a lawyer can his family get him?
Riley should have been a 1 game suspension for just being drunk in public. Wirfs should be a 3 game for drinking and putting lives in danger for the OWI. 2 completely different levels of stupidity deserve 2 different levels of punishment.
He'll get a deferred judgement, and if he stays out of trouble for 365 days it'll get wiped off his record like it never happened. That's pretty standard nowadays as long as he didn't get in an accident or wasn't doing something like driving 80 down the wrong side of a highway or something.Time will tell yeah. We'll see. How good of a lawyer can his family get him?
Riley got hosed bro. He wasn't doing anything that he shouldn't be allowed to do, except for being out in public to long. I'm sorry that you feel the way that you do, but drinking is not illegal. There is no law as to the limit of alcohol one can consume. I'm sorry but I don't exactly blame Riley for what happened. Should he learn from it? Yup. For all we know that was his very first time drinking. I don't often expect a 21 year old to know how to limit their alcohol consumption to amounts below total inebriation. They usually have to learn that through experience. It just sucks for Riley that his learning curve is a crappy one.
A public defender could get him that deal. He is barley an adult in the eyes of the court. They will show leniency. Compassion is after all is still supposed to be part of the legal system.
My guess is Tim Polasek will be way worse than Ferentz, the Iowa Media, and his parents combined.Well I suppose he outta be counting his lucky stars... I would have guessed he'd get more than that...
Riley Riley Riley.Everybody please stop calling him Riley!

Drinking is not illegal. Being drunk in public is. It is the law. https://www.lawserver.com/law/state/iowa/ia-code/iowa_code_123-46
Aside, I'm sure he did break team rules which likely included being drunk I don't expect anyone to know what their limits are when they've been drinking to excess. Besides, not your Bro. There aren't different penalties for first time drinkers. Maybe you have info that someone forced him to drink.
