This a crazy stat and to think Iowa is very rarely part of it too. Rarely have anybody leave and certainly don't take any transfers. Also Fran does not believe in "Prohming or Creaning" anyone either. Iowa is about the only Big Ten/Big 12 team who has had less than 5 transfers in or out the past 4 years. Considering the epidemic across CBB and how dependent teams are on transfers, for Iowa to be one of the few that can win with traditional recruiting is quite remarkable.
It's interesting. Most of us prefer Fran's way. However, in life today I don't know how realistic it is. How may of us would stay in a dead end job with little hope of overcoming obstacles unless we just really like the location and the current pay?
Coaches have particular styles. Not everyone is going to fit that style. Those not wanting to fit in can be a drain on management and team play. Fighting against someone always fighting the current gets old. Today's work place is about profit and inefficiencies are cut away. Those cut away aren't always bad, but for some reason (sometimes bad reasons) they are cut away. Why should sports be any different than a microcosm of society today.
Did many of us sense Bennett was really sad to see a future Iowa starter leave? Probably not. He didn't want him playing against him though.
We all gripe about ISU, but it's hard to deny their success in the past 10 years than say.....IOWA?
