We had a game with Northwestern in the Denny Green era where they didn't even get 66 yards of offense. I looked it up and we won 31-3 so we must have had at least one turnover deep in our own end. That's not the funny part of the story, however. The funny part was offensive lineman Mike Haight. Frustrated with his play he, according to my trusty student manager friend/neighbor, stormed off the field after one offensive series, kicked over three benches, and shouted "I'm the worst f****** offensive lineman in the history of this f****** conference!
Mike turned out to be slightly better than that. He played for the New York Jets for a few years.
Edit: It was October 6, 1984. Northwestern had 49 total yards. Iowa was in the midst of a five game with streak. They would beat Purdue 40-3 and Michigan 26-0 for a three game run of no TD's allowed and a combined score, including the Northwestern game, of 97-6
