Will it get worse before it gets better?

Do you expect the w/l record to level at around 6-7 wins, or do you expect the W/L to sag? And then do you anticipate a rebound - all assuming KF remains.

They have an excellent new facility, and they are putting together some great recruiting classes. I am expecting some very good seasons with a lot of wins!

I don't expect much out of this year. We have so much inexperience, even CJB is a bit unknown. He definitely gives us more potential for big plays, but he hasn't started many games, and he hasn't been healthy in the few times he's seen the field.

The biggest concern is that KF isn't good at gameday management even running the same @#%#% schemes for the past 16 years. We have seen him make smaller changes (Trying to convert more 4th downs, little more blitzing....) and none of them have helped get us more wins. His changes that he made to his staff has made us even more boring to watch, and we seem to play scared and stupid. Bad combo.

So if he's going to tweak his schemes, are we confident he can adapt to these changes during the season? We're too late into his tenure to think he'll pull it off.

I think this team is going to come out similar to 2008. Granted, they don't have a Shonn Greene, but there is a lot of young guys that need to prove they belong...and if they can gain some confidence, we should be playing our best ball down the stretch. Our two offensive tackles come to mind...RB is another area where we have talent...just can they make plays when they have to. On the other side, DT and LB are the big question marks, but we have some young depth, that if they make the leap, warrants a surprise to the upside. The schedule helps too.

So much of a game comes down to guys making the big play at critical times. CJ gives us that opportunity at QB...but someone is going to have to emerge at RB and WR, outside of Smith. We need playmakers to show themselves.

2017 looks to be the year where we would have a good shot with all the returning guys coming back. Ott will be missed, but pretty much everyone else is back on D...with another year of experience.

It's July and I'm always optimistic this time of the year. While I can understand some of the frustration with recent results, life is too short to live it pessimistically.

The realist in me says it will get worse before the sun shines on Hawkeye Nation again. But the Black and Gold that bleeds through my veins has me believing this will be a successful year with a relatively "easy" schedule that gives this young hawkeye team confidence going into 2016. The success keeps building year after year and Iowa becomes a legit Big Ten contender in 2 to 3 years. The Hawks keep climbing that latter of success and the years of mediocrity are distant memories. Iowa teams begin to dominate inferior competi.... whoa sorry about that, I just got lost in a bit of a fanatical day dream.. carry on.

Toby Keith says it's gunna get bad before it gets better. I believe him.

Toby or not Toby that is the question?

I hope it gets better. College football is my favorite sport and when the Hawks suck in football it makes it seem like forever for Fran and company to get it going on the hardwood.

It will get worse. It will get so much worse. this is only the beginning. You would not believe the horror that will come before Ferentz steps away.

The Wisconsin, MSU, Iowa cycle... that has been in place since the early 90s when whisky joined the party (replacing Illinois) is on the verge of turning. Out of these three expect them to start changing places.

rarely are any terrible, but they always change places.

I just love these types of posts. Nothing but opinion, conjecture, speculation and hope spun as "fact."

Care to provide something a little more concrete to support this theory that things are "on the verge of turning?"

From where I sit Wisconsin and MSU are far out in front of Iowa. We've lost 5 in a row at home to these teams and have looked pretty bad for the most part doing it.

What are you talking about? Yes they are far in front of Iowa RIGHT NOW. But like he said, they change places all the time and they will again.

What are you talking about? Did you actually read it? He said things were on the verge of turning. Look up what that word means. There's no evidence of that whatsoever.

Relax Francis, he simply is stating that historically, it's been cyclical. He didn't state Iowa was on the upswing, he said you can likely expect things to change or "turn".

You know what's worse than being a clown troll on here?....being an insufferably miserable Hawkeye fan. I suspect you won't be around all that long though captain miserable.

Awwwwww, you gonna tell Kirk on me? It's not my fault you can't read AND properly decipher someone's words. It's really not that hard. Provided you aren't a former special ed. student of course.

The post in question not only states that historically that these teams have switched places in the pecking order (that's true) but that things are on the "verge" of changing and to expect them to start switching places. In other words that the next cycle is imminent. There's no proof of that happening and was asking what he could provide along those lines.....and then you got your pampers in a bundle.

Relax Pickles, no reason to get all worked up.

So, you concede that historically, the aforementioned teams have taken turns on top. Cool, we agree then.

Attack on skipper.

I have no idea how many games Iowa will win this year, but I really believe that we will be much tougher to defend with Beathard at QB and I like Ferentz when expectations are low. The Big Ten West really isn't that good; if our linebackers can run and tackle a little bit we're gonna surprise some people.

Sorry to be optimistic. I know it's not very popular on this board right now.
