I think for the first time ever you will see KF coach as if his job is on the line....you will see enough new wrinkles to fool everyone including Barta into thinking he has seen the light and is worthy of another year in 2016....then you will see him return to the same surly stubborn a** he that he has been for nearly a decade now. You heard it here first...DO NOT buy the act that you are going to see from him in 2015....it will be nothing more than a con by a desperate man.
I think you're right, because there's evidence he's done this before. I believe it was the 2005/2006 season where we limped to the finish (something we do more of than not, it's a myth that KF teams play better as the year goes on), and he came out and stated they were rededicating themselves to "Iowa" football.
We came out on fire against TX, but like typical KF, we call some odd play calling near the end of the game which ended the chance to win (and so did a bad penalty on the Chandler TD callback).
Guess my long winded point is, KF does this a time or two every other year. When his back is against the wall, the Hawks come out a bit more inspired (remember NW game this year), and he gets a majority of the fanbase excited because he'll show tendencies that we've all wanted to see....
Only to go right back to ultra conservative, bad management the next week.....and it's all because he got people off of his back for a week.
There are plenty of examples of this throughout his career. The no huddle offense that lit up Pitt at the end of the game, only to abandon it after two series against Penn St the next week. Same thing with having no huddle, but yet we still don't actually line up until the clock is winding down.
I personally don't think he has the talent this year to coach his butt off. He's a creature of habit, and our defense still doesn't look that strong. He can't handle shootouts, and don't trust his game management skills in close games either.
