Will Iowa's spring game be shown on the Big Ten Network?

I've had it with BsTN. It is time already for an Iowa sports network if they are not going to cover Iowa. Even if they did have some problems with the live broadcast they should at least have shown a replay. The msu dirtbags were on 3 times for goodness sakes. If they won't cover Iowa something has to be done!

MSU was on twice yesterday again, and the Big Ten championship was replayed again… With of course, MSU! It's really turning into BmsuTN.
We should all email Delaney. I'm tired of this crap!

Man it sucks that they don't air it on BTN I had to watch it on the computer

Where did you watch it at on your computer? I'm under the impression they had "technical difficulties" and were unable to air it online as well.

I attended the spring game, so at least I saw what I wanted, but last year they did show the Iowa spring game on BTN a few times so I was able to watch some different stuff on BTN....but not this year?

All they needed to do was have a student U type of coverage, with Dolph and Eddie simulcast in for the scrimmage portion. It is a shame.

Ironically, last nite on BTN Live, Dinardo did a thumbnail summary of each team and at the end he picked Iowa and Nebraska to be co-favs in the West, and OSU/MSU in the East. So, Iowa is one of the 4 top teams in the league, but the only one to not get any love spring game-wise? Makes no sense.
Iowa had the 5th most attended game, behind only PSU, OSU, Neb, and MSU....so the program has life.
I believe them when they said they had technical difficulites, but the overall treatment of Iowa is lacking at times.

They have MSU and OSU and PSU on the brain. They showed the whole MSU spring game live...fine, but then in every program focusing on the league this weekend, they had MSU dominating the coverage again, and on BTN Live they had Dantonio as the one live interview....it is like they are shoving it in Iowa face with no coverage of the game and then doubling down and ignoring them on the re-cap shows.

Dinardo likes Iowas team, so it cannot be that they do not think we will be in the hunt next fall. Guess it has to be TV sets....

This is the only thing I could think of as well... but then again Iowa would have more people tune in than several other B10 teams in my opinion so even that reason is kind of a stretch. It's almost like they just have it out for the Hawks.

Maybe they enjoy riling up the Iowa fan base like certain journalists have grown accustomed to doing. Gregg Doyel is one that comes to mind. His coverage of the Rhabdo incident was pure garbage. I think he even admitted he likes getting under Hawkeye fans skin because we send him so much hate mail. Although he did do that article recently about Norm Parker and KF helping out that family with the infant who had a heart condition. Maybe he was trying to gain some ground back with Hawk fans.

Allow me to throw my 2 cents on this. I think in Doyels case when it comes to the feel good stories he's done on Iowa it's not aimed so much at the Hawk fans but the in general college fans. He clearly would much rather tweak and poke at Ferentz he's done it more then once with the whole Rhabado deal and ranking him as a terrible coach etc. So I just think he's by far not an Iowa fan and the feel good articles aren't olive branches at all. Just opportunistic ways to write feel good stories that will be read by the masses to get attention. Not to promote Iowa or Ferentz for anything more then in the short term. Because if the opposite is true then he's blatantly two faced and trying to have it both ways. I'm sure he'll write something on Ferentz and Iowa this summer that will poke the bear he can't help himself.

There's not even an Iowa football replay showing up in the menu on right hand side of the BTN.com home page. The offerings skip right from Illinois and Indiana to Michigan and down the alphabetical list. Oh, but if you couldn't sleep in the wee hours this morning, you could have watched multiple editions of BTN Live: "Coach Ferentz joins the show, how will the SEC's 8 game conference schedule vs. the B1G's future 9 game conference schedule affects the College Football Playoff, and top 4 B1G QB's for 2014"

You can't make it up.

I'm sick and tired of the attention and exposure the BTN gives to Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Nebraska. I would love to see a study of how many minutes the network devotes to the individual schools in a given broadcast month. I have no doubt it would skew very heavily to those four or five schools, especially Sparty.

Screw the money; access to eyeballs -- especially those belonging to young athletes -- is what will make it just a bit easier for Iowa coaches to recruit better athletes to Iowa City.

BTN is trying to make money. They make more money by having higher ratings....It is pretty simple to understand why other teams are being shown. Iowa is making plenty of money in this scenario so it is working just fine. If Iowa starts going to BCS games every year they will air more Iowa related topics on their network. You can't blame BTN for Iowa being an average conference team.

I understand what you're saying and I suspect some of that is going on. But if that's the standard, can you say the BTN would get more viewership for a replay of the Indiana game? Minnesota? Northwestern? Illinois?

For the love of God to you honestly think that a channel/website that milks about as much new material as they can during the off season for content is going to purposely screw up 2 hours of content that would be replayed over and over again just to stick it to Iowa?

Dude, get a life. and take off the tin foil hat.

I am willing to bet that BTN heard from a lot of angry Iowa fans the last few days so they did throw us a bone with a nice interview and feature on Iowa football on BTN Live ...I have zero issues with Iowa fans venting at BTN to let them know we are alive and kicking. Iowa drew the 5th most fans to their spring game behind only PSU,OSU,Neb,and MSU.....so the program is not dead.

The BTN is sending off some weird vibes lately. Not really sure what more they could do to keep Iowa off of their network.

Who cares? Do the coaches, players, SID really need the distractions? I'd much rather have them all focusing on workouts, training, strategy and projecting a positive image than all the broadcast preparations, interviews and scheduling demands of TV.

Send all the weird vibes they want ... just enclose them along with that $30 million check.

This is the dumbest post I have ever seen on this site. Congrats, that is not a small accomplishment.

I don't disagree with where the focus should be, and it's likely there for players/staff.

However for exposure, recruiting, for fans that aren't able to attend; that spring game goes a long ways.

I don't know if the BTN is trying to stick it to Iowa or not but I tend to think we are an afterthought. If somebody who works for the BTN points us out for a show it's shown, if not we're out of luck. I do think it's lame that the MSU game was shown for the 6th time in 3 days. I believe airing the Iowa game would bring the more viewers than the 6th MSU game. If Iowa was being aired for a 6th time how many of us, even the diehards, would be watching.

I agree, we're talking about viewing the game, I'm not asking for interviews with the coaches. I do think the SID could be involved, after all, isn't that his job.

Really maggie? Did you see the list of teams that they aired a spring game for?

If we win, they will point to the guys we are losing, and use that as an excuse for ignoring us. MSU lost 7 defenders and 5 on offense but are still getting the royal treatment. I do not think they will be nearly as good, but I guess the BTN does.
