WILL IOWA START A HOCKEY PROGRAM?

Actually, it's not. Unless you go all the way with funding for the facilities etc., you will never get the players to come and never compete. That's what the argument was for new football and basketball facilities was, right? It's even more important for a specialized sport like hockey. There's a reason why UNO has hockey, but UNL doesn't. Unless you have lived in an environment where hockey is actually almost as important as the high revenue sports, it's hard to comprehend.

You keep talking about UNL, they may be adding hockey sooner than you think. The new basketball arena was built to hold ice.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. There's a lot of hockey in the state.

I agree with him. I grew up in Iowa and never knew nobody in my school who ever played or even talked about hockey. If I went a few miles north to Minnesota there were makeshift hockey rinks with kids playing everywhere. Minnesota is a hockey state. Iowa is not.

Is there extra revenue to be gained if Iowa had a hockey program? BTN revenues, ticket, merchandising? If there is then it might be worth the investment, again, I think there is room for 1 division one program in the state of Iowa. If not then this is not worth arguing over as someone mentioned earlier the U of I is not made of money. I can live without Hawkeye hockey.

I don't know what the big deal is about spending millions for a hockey rink. You just need a few good garden hoses, some boards and you can flood Kinnick.
