Why isn't there a dedicated Beth Mowins thread yet?

Hey, we could go back to .....................

Mike Golic Jr.'s voice on "Golic and Wingo" grates on me for some reason. Mowins is better, also, than Jason Witten or Booger on MNF.

I find golic jr to be incredibly annoying. His voice isn’t bad, but if you actually watch him talk his head and body bob around like a chicken. I actually don’t mind his dad though.

This is a pretty interesting thread. I'd guess the detractors of Beth are all over the board on reasons. I'm surprised it's taken this long to have a female be a "major" voice in football. I find it interesting that it is happening while football numbers are sliding. I think that slide is bigger than some of you think. We've come a long way since Phyllis George.
I imagine some of you are against it because she is a she. There was an element in the day when Black's weren't welcome in football.

Some of you I would guess are afraid of change. Football is going to change and change mightily. It has to or it won't survive which may be the case anyway. A local paper did an article on declining numbers participating in high school. When my youngest son played just a few years ago, they had over 100 in the program on 3 teams. The numbers are down into the mid 60s. This was a football power house with 1000 kids in the high school. There are 230 kids in the marching band. I look at the boys in the band and there are some real athletic looking guys. The marching band is insanely good and put some colleges to shame. My daughter is in the band. After halftime, the stands are almost empty, except parents of football players. Visiting crowds of similar sized schools are almost non-existent. There used to be 3 powerhouses in the area. Same thing on numbers. This year in a very rapid two year slide, they've won 7 games between them. Our school had 6 of the 9 opponents cancel due to low numbers. These are high schools with between 850 and 1300 kids. The schools that are winning are further away from a Big U where the parental education level attained is lower.

Beth Mowins is likely a sign that powers that be with the pocket books are looking to try and get females interested as away to save football.

My home Iowa HS team went from being 2A to now 8 man football since I was in school. The stands used to be packed with people standing around the field all the way around. Almost no one there now and they played 11 man and were in the Dome a couple of times about 10 years ago.

No way this isn't going to impact NCAA football. Beth is a sign of the times.

One last parting thought. The Big Network has also led to the problem. You have kids from poorer families no longer watching the Big on the local free network station.

I think you're over thinking it.

Definitely overthinking it,

Beth is nothing of the ilk. She’s a very average token female broadcaster, who has her job for that reason. She not a revolutionary paradigm changer or some sort of feminist hero. She makes ESPN higher ups feel good about themselves so they can virtue signal. She’s not Rosa parks.

Be careful...such uncomfortable truths won't past through the filter of the digital overlords. Time for re-education camp.

City High has between 15-20 kids out for Freshman Football. City freaking High. When I was there 20 years ago it was at least 100. It is a dying sport.

That is because they ended 7th & 8th grade football, had to make some cuts to pay for that 100K a year diversity director. C'mon we must all sacrifice for the PC overlords.

Are you guys going to judge me if I say there's something awkwardly erotic about her voice? I guess she's grown on me.
Her bedroom voice with Berry White playing in the background will give you something to remember Mel for the rest of your life. Your wife will wonder what that smile and glossy eyed look in your eyes sitting across at the breakfast table is all about!

Forget Iowa city high, since when have they supplied any recruits? As long as Lyon county keeps its programs alive we are good.
