Why isn't there a dedicated Beth Mowins thread yet?

I think I will condition myself for this event by going out and buying a chalkboard and some fake nails. Do they still make chalk boards? Dammit, I was hoping her NFL gig was a permanent thing.

Alrrrrready crrrringing at the thought of herrrrr voice. And JDM, I don't wanna herrrrre any of yourrrrr PC baloney like "it's because she's a woman." No, it's because of herrrrr gawd-awful attempt at an announcerrrrrs voice.

Does she talk like that when she's off the airrrrrrr, I wonderrrrr?

I've had a new motto that I'm going to look for the positives in all situations in my life. It's been going very well for the past month. Unfortunately, this situation has me stumped. There is another color person in the booth? I guess that's positive. I'm searching hard.

Beth is fine. I'm not trying to claim she's great but the criticisms leveled against her are completely biased. I count numerous player mix-ups and mis-pronounced names in EVERY SINGLE Hawkeye broadcast. I've yet to hear a criticism that isn't equally applicable to her male counterparts so I know exactly what the real objection is.

I got no problems with Beth besides the fact that it means we are on the OCHO before you can get into most bars when she's calling the game.

This PC bias crap is BS. I think it would be great if a woman broadcast the game. Beth, however, has the most irritating, nauseating voice in broadcast TV. Plus, she is usually un-informed. If she were to speak with a feminine voice instead that of a penis-less man she would be fine. Instead, she uses a broadcast voice that should not be heard by anyone.

She's no more uninformed than several of her male counterparts. I've heard Eponesa called Espinosa, I've heard Ojemudia pronounced Oh-Jay-Moody, I've heard announcers insist a flag was on the wrong player when they are incorrect, I've heard plays called incorrectly and incorrect recounting of Iowa football history, etc. all by male announcers.

As far as her voice, she has a completely normal voice. I'm not going to be convinced that people who say she has an irritating voice don't just have an issue with women talking. She doesn't have a high pitched voice, she's not "shrill", she doesn't do baby talk, doesn't talk like a valley girl, doesn't have a honking Chicaaaaaaago or east coast accent. She doesn't stutter or slur her words. There is literally nothing objectionable about her voice.

This conversation is moot though. I've never met a misogynist who actually realized that's what they were.

Yes it is objectionable, maybe not to you, but to many many listeners. And it has nothing to do with her being a woman, despite what you social justice warriors think.

Wrong.

I think she does an okay job.
Her voice is irritating.

I think Dan Fouts does an okay job.
His voice is irritating.

Funny, my wife can't stand listening to her either. You are defending her solely because she is a woman, not on merit. Misoogynist? Typical leftist/marxist argument, all discussions are race, gender, class. Call them a name and that will end the discussion. She only survived the ESPN coup (mass firings of qualified announcers) because she IS a woman, not based on merit whatsoever.

Dude...it's her voice....not just her mistakes.

I think Michele Tafoya is one of the best in the biz, love her reporting.

Equality means taking the criticism and the praise.

Glen Mason is objectionable to some but you don't see a thread bemoaning every time he's announced as an announcer. That is the difference. Stop talking about it and you can hate her all you want but I've already seen this thread and a bunch of crap on twitter that is a level way beyond what any of her male peers ever receive as criticism.
