True. But you don't have to be hawkeyegamefilm to realize that they are less dependent on runningbacks finding cut back lanes.....They are trapping more and pulling guards even a novice like myself can see that. Yeah, I get it, defenses can't overflow to one side. I agree it is far more difficult than most comprehend, but it isn't neurosurgery either. You and Ickehawk aren't shy about calling people out continue to do so I do not mind people having opinions. When I get called out it makes me do my homework, seek more info.
They don't have a 'trap' play? In the last couple years They have added a 'pin and pull' play, is that what you are referring to? There is a HUGE difference between that and a 'trap' play. And they added what GreenBay calls a 'gap scheme' last year (that's why they went to GB in the off season to learn more about it) to their zone scheme, to slow down pursuit, and to take advantage of teams that were playing smaller, quicker D-linemen...They take away and add to their run game scheme every year depending on their personal and what's the defenses are doing against them, so it wasn't a 'newkirk' thing, lol...MOST wouldn't notice and wouldn't understand the difference without really studying it for a while.....I 'mind' people having 'opinions'. What some of you call 'opinions' are ignorant rants (not you of course, lol). "You are not entitled to your opinion, You are entitled to your 'informed' opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant." Harvey Ellison.........In other words, if you don't know what you're talking about, shut the hell up, lol...or inform yourself :)

Did some homework(google search on pin and pull) re-watch some games, watch some highlights and you are right that is what I am seeing. I disagree they made adjustments in the past based on personnel and what defenses were doing to them. I feel it was more of 'do what we do' approach. It is complex, but it isn't rocket science.

Well, since I've been talking to them for years, you would be wrong. They make adjustments to the scheme pretty much every year. Some are very minor, for instance, if they are going to seal backside on outside zone, are they going to use the TE from motion, etc...You can 'feel' whatever you'd like, but it doesn't make it any more 'true'...:) I like talking to you tjr, but I'm leaving. have a great night!

So what was I watching when I saw Weisman struggle with footwork? Hitting cutback lanes? At least in central Iowa the weather is d*mn near perfect i think I am going to enjoy it as well.

Weisman was a great kid, and gave his all (I don't want to throw him under the bus) but yes, I think he was a little slow to the cutback among other things....

Try doing some homework like get over yourself.

I of all people don't mind differing opinions. It is stupid opinions I take offense to. When you got a poster claiming that Iowa offense is predictable and that lead to the injury of RB, I laugh and call them out on that.

KF offenses are very predictable. Leads to RB injuries when they are targeted.

We need a list of things it's OK to talk about on a Hawkeye message board.

Why laugh and call out stupid? Not everyone knows everything about football but they still like talking about it. If someone has a take that doesn't really make sense, why not just let them know why it's dumb instead of belittle them? That's more of a question in general than a question directed just at you.

I get what you are saying, and I know this isn't totally directed at me, but I called him HawkSourPuss is all, then he came at me pretty hard, which is fine.

People get all bent out of shape when posters "criticize" them or their posts. I've said a lot of dumb things, and get called out, it is ok by me. I mean it seems odd to me that poster who are bagging on coaches or players think THEIR OPINIONS are above reproach and should never ever ever be questioned. Odd to me it is.

There is a difference between criticizing the post and criticizing the person. One is allowed on here and one isn't (supposed to be anyway).

i can see why you go by 'pc', You want this site to be politically correct, don't you? I hope I wasn't hurting you feelings? That's all that matters anymore, is peoples feelings. Truth and facts don't matter, just what people 'feel' to be the truth. I can show you clips of Politicians when being confronted with FACTS that prove their statements wrong, saying that it doesn't matter, because they 'feel' what they said is the truth, so they are sticking by it....That's what I go through on here. You'll probably complain about me, so you can go back to bashing coaches and kids and making up whatever you 'feel' without my interference.....Would it really matter if I called the 'post' moronic or idiotic? The post and the poster are one and the same....unless you are 'politically correct'....:)

To get this thread back on track, can Coker redshirt this year? If he can then I think he will be the starting running back in '17.

If I was politically correct, I would not want you to say what you think. I don't care at all that you say what you think. You saying what you think isn't what make's you a douche. It's thinking how you think that makes you a douche.

Don't think it is hate. One of those guys has D1 speed at programs that do well. One [Daniels] does not. One can change a game against strong defenses. One [Daniels] is a role player. One could get plays at OSU. One [Daniels] likely wouldn't get plays at NW. No one doubts the determination of either. It's game speed. One plays similar to Ronnie Harmon. One plays like the gutsy kid who started several years ago that was admirable but didn't belong starting as a RB.

So far, a healthy Daniels is looking like a heck of a back. Your original point that Wadley is worthy of starting has certainly received some strong support as well. Willing to change your view of Daniels yet?

Daniels is looking like a BEAST this year. He is running around and over the opponents. He is being decisive on his cuts, is hitting the holes hard, and keeps moving his feet. His tendency to dance in the hole has seemed to have disappeared.

One is still much better than the other. LD had a 43 yard run and 6 more carries. It was against ISU. Give me Wadley against Michigan or OSU.

The real story here is that take away the 43 yard run, Iowa's running game was mediocre against a bad team.

Dude you are on a roll today, and making me LOL all over the place. This is an obvious joke right? First of all the thought of taking away his best run, well just because is idiotic. But let us go ahead and do that. He would have had 14 rushes for 69 yards and a TD which is nearly 5 YPC.

That was a nice run. Give Wadley as many carries and I'm sure he does the same. I was disappointed in the running game. It wasn't stellar and CJ took too many hits. Iowa should have been demolishing them after awhile on the ground due to how good CJ was at throwing and decisions. He should have been out of the game with the same lead against what MAY be a very bad ISU. Again, Wadley's speed is the issue. It's not hard to look fast against a weak team. I think they compliment each other well. I would want one of them getting more carries in real games LOL all over the place.

Wadley has looked great, but what are you basing "is still much better" upon? I agree with you that it is hard to interpret the first 2 games considering the level of the competition, but ISU was committing a lot of bodies to the run game, and Iowa was still effective all night. Daniels consistently made the first guy miss, ran through contact, moved piles, and fell forward. It might not be as flashy as what Wadley does, but it is still very valuable.

Never said differently, just that Wadley is quicker which will show on big games.
