Who Says We Can't Win @ Indy?

Could Iowa win? Sure. Probability? Very low.

Anything is possible. Indiana could have a bad game on a night where Iowa actually starts making shots.

This game is undoubtedly the biggest game of the year for Iowa.
If they can somehow pull off a win, on the road, over the #1 team in the nation, then talk about Iowa and the tourney will pick up steam.
If Iowa loses, you won't hear much about Iowa or their chances unless they make a run in the BTT.

Pretty much -
Beat Indiana, NCAA Tourney chances are rekindled (at least a little).
Lose to Indiana, it's NIT unless a deep run into the BTT.

Huge game, but Indiana will have motivation after dropping their last game to MN. And Indiana is just the better team.

Going to Indiana, without our starting PG - this situation feels alot to me like in 2009 when the Iowa Football team went to play @OSU without Ricky Stanzi.. Nobody gave Iowa a chance to win that game, and that game ended up going to overtime. Yeah Iowa lost that game, but I don't think anybody thought it would even be a game, and look what happened.

That said, I still think Iowa gets waxed on Saturday night - but as has been said, you still play the games, because you just never know.

Outside of losing Gesell to injury, Indiana losing to MN this week is probably also about the worst thing that could have happened for the Hawks. They will be refocused.

Indiana just has to many ways they can beat you. They can beat you down low with Zeller, a slasher in Oladipo, and if manage to contain both of them they can kick it out to Watford or Hulls who shoot 50% from three's. Not to mention the huge home court advantage.

But this is a game a lot of eyeballs are going to be on. Indiana is playing for a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. Iowa needs to prove they can play with the best team in the country.

It'll be a great great moral victory.

Right up there with the best.

It'll then spawn a dozen "what if" threads, which will re-hash the same tired arguments.

Can't wait.

For those thank think it's not gonna happen (ie a win against the Hoosiers), all you need to do is look at the Penn State vs Michigan game from last night. What were the odds Penn State would win? It happened. Don't sell this group short.

Just stop with the Penn State references. Indiana isn't visiting Carver, Iowa is playing at Bloomington Saturday!

End of story..

Iowa chances ride squarely on if at least 5 Indiana players can find Assembly Hall on Saturday. If they can, then Iowa has almost no chance to win.

If Iowa has any change of winning, they will need to take a page from Wiscy's victory at IU. They will need to slow down the game and use up the shot clock. They also need to hope Indiana doesn't shoot well. IU shot only 37% from the field and 25% from 3 pt land vs Wisconsin. Iowa also can't come into the game intimidated. They will have to play with confidence and really get physical with Zeller. Anyone know what the spread is so far?

They absolutely can. We are outmanned but anything can happen in college basketball on a given day. Granted it will be tough, we will need our share of breaks and we will have to play well while the Hoosier daddy's will probably have to not play their best. But yeah, of course we can win, it is not out of the question. Will we win? My money would be on no, but I'm all for a big win so go do it.

Looking at the stats from last years game Josh must of forgot his shot there last year.. If he does anywhere near that again the Hawks would definitely win in Bloomington.

Wishful thinking...
Josh could go 8/8 from the 3 line and Iowa still loses Sat. at Indiana. Wish it were otherwise.

Indiana will be favored in the 15-20 pt. range.

I love the Hawks and look forward to Saturday Night's game as ugly as it will probably be, I will watch the game from start to finish.

I watched through the Lickliter days so nothing will stop me now. :)

It's ugly only if you lose. Gesell may still be out so Iowa's offense may be hard to come by.
Play tough, team defense like against Purdue. The winning team may score in the low 50s, but Iowa would still have a chance.
