Who do we upset?

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

We'll beat MSU and Minny in CHA.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

We match up horribly with MSU and Minny's pressure may eat us alive again

I think Purdue is the most logical choice

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

Minnesota almost lost at home to Indiana. They are beatable, as well.
Minn has beaten WVU and no one else.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

I think that Fran has been able to develop this team to the point where they are not so near to being the "big ten bottom feeders" many predicted they would be in the offseason. Fran has these guys competitive in every game, so that no matter who the opponnet is each night, this squad can pull out a win. In the early part of the season we have been plagued with common mistakes you would expect from a young team under a new coach, but now as they have had much time to iron things out, we are seeing much less of these mistakes. As a result we have a team that is playing better each game, and maturing rapidly as well.
Its still early to predict whether certain big ten teams such as Minnesota, Michigan, Penn State, Indiana, or even Northwestern are going to be more competitive than Iowa by the time we play them. With the rapid development and confidence the squad has seen, it just might be possible that we could finish amidst the middle pack of the Big Ten.
Who will we upset? Upsets could come from anyone of Purdue, Michigan State, Wisconsin, or even Illinois and Ohio State when we face them again. Right now all we know is that this team is headed in the right direction, and the wins should be coming much faster than many have predicted.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

The bottom line is this: Iowa hung with, and almost beat, arguably the best team in the nation without its starting SF. If they can be competitive vs Ohio State (average margin of victory was 28 points, closest game was 11 pts), they can be competitive with ANYONE in the Big Ten.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

I see Indiana as Iowa's possibly lone win, maybe Penn State? Going to be a rough year.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

Wow, I missed that thread, sorry. I will merge them. I see you had Iowa beating PU too.

No problem.

I think we do beat Purdue at the end of the year and after watching the Hawks last night I think we will steal a couple more games at home.

Wisconsin is a bit more vulnerable this year and I think we can turnaround and nab the Illini in Champaign. Odds are they will not shoot 10/12 from downtown in the first half again. It may be that I have so much hatred for that school that I always think we will beat them, I dont know I guess...just a feeling.

The improvement that I have seen from individual players and as a team since the start of the season is very encouraging. Iowa basketball is fun to watch again.

This team is going to upset at least one ranked team in Big 10 play. Who does everybody think it will be?

I have us beating two ranked teams at home. I just have a feeling we knock off Illinois at home in the Big 10 opener. Also think we beat Purdue in the last Big 10 game of the year.
What a stupid post!!

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

You can't honestly think this, can you?

I think Indiana is the worse team in the conference. There is no way we should lose to them, at least at home. Penn State is bad too and Michigan isn't that great either. Northwestern is a fairly good team but they are flaming out again to start the season. I think we can beat all these teams.

I really think OSU coasted against us in the first half. If you watched the way they ran their offense, their dumb turnovers and the lack of effort going for loose balls you'll see their minds weren't really there. I think we can beat Minnesota or MSU if they put that kind of effort out there against us but I would think it won't happen once they look at the tape and see that we do have talent.

I think OSU took Iowa very lightly. Very very lightly. You knew Matta was going to light them up at halftime.

I just don't understand how anyone could see Iowa only winning one or two more games. Hell, last year's team won 3 B10 games and they were dreadful compared to this year's squad.

What a stupid post!!

Haha...already acknowledged that I missed on my Illinois prediction. Predictions are what you think is going to happen. I know I am not going to get all of them right and I already said I was wrong.

You must be bitter about being called out in the ARob thread.
