Who do we upset?

Looking at the home schedule, I have following hopes for upsets;

Illini- longshot, but it is first big ten game for some of their young guys, altho they do have 3 seniors. They are an outside shooting team...a good one,but if they had a bad shooting nite, just maybe the majority of the orange crush will be watching the Illini play in their bowl game that nite instead of treking to IC for this game, and Iowa catches them looking ahead to OSU.

Wisconsin- they are so rock solid, hard to see,but their talent is not overwhelming...it is that damn discipline that will get us,but maybe Leuer and Taylor get in foul trouble?

NW- we have their number in CHA...but it will be an upset if we get them.
IU- young team, can be had in CHA
PSU- only get them at PSU,but their building is quiet..never know.
Mich.- another young team that could be vulnerable on the road.

I see no chance for Minny,OSU,MSU or PU to be upset by Iowa.

This team is going to upset at least one ranked team in Big 10 play. Who does everybody think it will be?

I have us beating two ranked teams at home. I just have a feeling we knock off Illinois at home in the Big 10 opener. Also think we beat Purdue in the last Big 10 game of the year.
I don't know who the Hawks will upset, but, your post upsets rational thinking.

We have seen flashes that this team can play well. I think they put together a whole game against a quality opponent and upset a couple teams. I was just going off of who is ranked right now. Obviously things can change but it is probably a fairly safe bet that MSU, OSU, Purdue, and Illinois will be ranked throughout the entire season.

The pessimism on this board surrounding a program that is 10 games into a new regime is ridiculous.
I don't think they were being pessimistic about the team as much as they were pointing out the lunacy of your post. Does that help?

I have a lot of family connections in East Lansing, who keep me pretty connected with their program... and their lineup seems to be going through a few rough patches. They seem ripe for an upset. They really miss Raymar Morgan and Chris Allen (They arent happy with me about that one) and cant seem to find a piece to put in their spot.

Ohio State never ever impresses me. Not sure why, but there is absolutely nothing flashy, or even 'elite' about their team, but yet they are ranked as such. An Iowa upset of Ohio State seems even more likely than Michigan State.

I don't think any other win would be considered an 'upset' other than Illinois because there are a lot of down teams in the Big Ten like Purdue, Wisconsin, Indiana (still down but improving) and Michigan. Iowa should flat out beat Michigan twice and get Northwestern once.

The only game I see no chance of Iowa winning is Minnesota.

Section, Please be sure to revive this post when the upset happens.

I can't wait to see Cliche eat a bit of crow. He has to be the most pessimistic poster in Hawkeye Nation history.

I can't wait until I'm right and then you try to spew some garbage about how Minnesota was receiving ap top 25 votes and was ranked 25th in some ESPN power ranking if we beat them so technically they were ranked.

Unlike alot of the posters here, I actually watch the games. And not just watch them to blindly cheer for our team because I want to come on a message board to say I knew Coach Fran was the guy all along if this thing gets turned around.

Our record is what it is a for a few main reasons; we're young, short, don't have solid guard play, and we have trouble defending. Those things aren't going to change without experience for the young players and getting new players in to address the other deficiencies.

Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

It's going to happen this year.
Ohio State almost fell to Iowa who was playing without Eric May.

Who's your choice for Iowa to take down? What upper Big Ten team will Iowa beat this year?

Michigan State or Wisconsin at carver will be an Iowa win. I don't see Iowa wining on the road against a Big Boy. What is your definition of Big Boy? OSU, ILL, MSU, Purdue, and Wisconsin?

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

I think they may take out both MSU and Wisconsin.

I really hope they take out both and then add Minnesota for good measure!!!

Without a doubt though, this team WILL knock somebody off.

And while I don't believe in moral victories, at least the games are entertaining to watch and you feel like just a couple more plays and the game is going in the W column.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

I think they can probably get Wisconsin, or at least I hope like hell they do.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

None of the above. I want to hurt a teams NCAA chances or Big Ten title hope or something. I want to break someones heart.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

I think the last game of the regular season, Iowa takes down Purdue barring any big injury to an Iowa player.

Re: Which Big Boy Will Iowa Take Down?

I think Wisky at home would be a good one to get. I do think we get Minnesota. I just am not that impressed with them (pulled out a squeeker tonight against Indiana, and have beaten no one all year).
