Who are you most excited about?

I have to go with an underdog here..

Kevon Martin-Manley... heard some talk on the radio from one of the recruiting guys that this guy could play next year even with our depth at WR. Guess he was quite the get for the hawks.

I'm gonna go with our lowest rated recruit. Austin Vier looks like he is gonna be a steal! 6-7 with a 4.5 forty? He and C.J. will be the best TE duo in the next coming years. I have talked with several people who said, they are not even sure where he will play in college. They said he could play QB, TE, or WR. HE is gonna be a good one a few years!

Anyone heard anything about Brad Herman, is he our next TE to step up next year? I know we have reisner, but I think this kid will be a stud as well.

Donavan Johnson, James Morris, CJ Fiedorowicz

I think that Coker redshirts in 2010 ... and then he'll be the guy who I'm most excited about in 2011.

I'm probably most intrigued about Carl Davis ... if he qualifies, if he has the advertised quicks, and if he learns our system well ... he has the potential to be dominant (on either side of the line). The interesting question is whether the young man will be able to put everything together ... I certainly hope so.

Deandre johnson i think is the most underrated player in this years class. If it wasnt for his injury, i'm sure he would have been rated a lot higher than what he ended. He is going to be this year's Goo Moo for me, but hopefully he makes it to fall practice.

LOL!

What a relief that you now have a surrogate for Goo Moo ... I was worried about you!

1) CJ Fiedorwicz..........I fully expect to see CJ on the field, some, next year. He very likely could be backing-up Allen Reisner, in 2010. Even if CJ red shirts, that is fine with me. Having him for 3-4 years will be a luxury for our offense.

2) James Morris............Again, I think he may play Special teams in 2010, however, if not, I'm very confident that this kid will be an impact and special Hawkeye. Fans should look forward to seeing James hit people.

3) Carl Davis............just have a feeling that Carl may turn into another Adrian Clayborn like Def lineman.

4) M Coker..............who doesn't like watching Big backs run over tacklers/

5) Donnal/Derby/Brandon Scherf. The future of the Iowa Hawkeyes depend on these guys stepping up and leading.

With my very limited knowledge of the incoming class I would switch Morris and CJ. Otherwise I would agree. CJ absolutely looks like a man among boys, a big, strong target who is going to be tough to tackle.

I concure. I am very excited about this class all around!

If they were to move AJ to LB would you still know who the disapointment would be?

I'm just going to come out and say what a lot of us are thinking but most are too afraid to say or type. If Derby stays at QB he will be the big dissapointment of this class. If he is going to make a big impact it will be as a LB or safety. He has a lot of athleticsm but he can't throw worth a darn.

I think it's funny how the message board 'experts' are predicitng A.J. 'won't play QB' in college, however, this guy named Ferentz seems to think he's 'Tim Tebow' like.

I'll go with the latter expert on this matter.

I won't profess to know better than Ferentz, but Derby to LB would be what I would do, his athleticism and body type remind me a lot of Greenway. And I just don't see him beating out Vandenberg. But I'm not Ferentz, and I'm not going to criticize him on this kind of thing.

I just think its disappointing that a guy with so much talent may have to sit the bench until Stanzi and Vandenburg are gone. It may end up being the right move but I think he could help out a lot sooner other positions than QB.

That's the line of thinking that I have. Ferentz must see a ton of upside in him that most of us are missing. Maybe he really could be THAT good at QB someday. But I also think he could be THAT good at OLB, and much sooner than at QB.

I am most excited for James Morris because I am an Iowa boy, but i believe that CJ will have the greatest impact. In the AA game he looked like he was good at reach blocking which will be huge in the zone blocking scheme that Iowa runs. All in all I think that this class will have a lot of great players.

I love it when somebody gives their opinion on a subjectand then you have people who make a smartass comment instead of just contributing to the conversation.... What we need is a place where we can all go and talk about what positions we think the incoming players are going to play...lets see if there was only some sort of messege board...

If Ferentz thinks he could be special at QB I think you need to hold out and wait for that. Even if that means he doesn't see the field for 3 years until he is RS JR and Vandenberg is gone. Look at how Iowa struggled with Christensen and an injured Tate, having a good QB is so important. It's much easier to find solid LBs than it is QBs.

Im excited for CJ as well....however my question is this. He is already 240lbs. Whats going to happen when they put 20,30,40, or even 50 lbs of muscle on this kid? Too big to play TE? Im NOT a strength coach obviously. Does he have 20 lbs of baby fat that they will strip off and replace with muscle so he ends up around 250ish?

Have you seen pictures of CJ? Stripping off fat for muscle is the last thing I see when I look at him. I doubt he plays at anything more than 260.

No doubt, I don't know what that poster was thinking. Most everything I've heard suggests that Fiedorowicz is a bit of a freak of athlete for his size. He has the size of Chandler ... but has the benefit of better coordination and athleticism.
