The Big Ten’s six-member academics and eligibility subcommittee, which includes Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta, decides Ott’s case. The subcommittee next is scheduled to meet Feb. 22-23, 2016 in Rosemont, Ill.

Thanks for the information. Let's hope for good news for big Drew. He certainly had his share of bad luck with the two serious injuries this year.

The longer this drags out, the less likely it is for Drew to get an extra year. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Actually the longer it drags out the better. Not saying he will get another year, but the committee that decides these things has already said NO to several players looking for an extra year.

If the Big 10 lets Michigan State play felons right out of jail they should not be nitpicking this. He has only played two and a half years worth of games, just grant him the redshirt already!

Logically, Barta abstaining makes no sense. Yes, Iowa would benefit from Ott coming back but the other five ADs and their schools would benefit from him not coming back so everyone involved has something to gain one way or another. Not sure this would happen.

Never! You can't apply for a redshirt. However, you can apply for a medical hardship waiver.
I don't understand why they don't have a pre determined date to decide by that they'd let at least Ott and the school know. It's kinda a big deal on a few levels. The kids future obviously and also school and the scholarship and how they can plan things going into spring ball/next season. There hasn't been and won't be any new information or developments here. Just go over it and make a decision already geez..
