What would be your reaction if B Ferentz was named OC?

Heard a couple rumors at the game today (I know, pretty reliable) about BF being the new O coordinator. I dont think there is any chance of this but if it was true what would your reaction be?

I think the reaction would be outrage and understandably so. I do think he would be a good position coach though.

i think in a few yrs i would be ok with it. but right now i feel he is still too young in his coaching career to be handed the keys to this type of car. 5 more yrs (something like an ol coach) then moves to being our oc. and later i believe he becomes our hc.

Agree Foval. Might make sense in a few years.

Would be great to see father and son side by side chewing gum and writing on sticky notes together. Kind of a heart warming thought.

Probably, not too likely, but I would also be intrigued. We can all speculate how unready he would be but he could be the next Gus Melzahn(SP) we just don't know.

ps. I hope this post was not inflamatory or defamatory towards any other posters.

He is the TE coach for the New England patroits

He is ready to be offensive Cord for IOWA

Plus kirk is an offensive coach so he is going to run it anyway

At first I said no way. But think about it. He's been on staff watching the most prolific pro style offense at new england for a few years. He also understands protection being a former center. Also, being kirk's son, he won't be intimidated by kirk. I say I'm in on brian ferentz for oc. To find a great coordinator, you have to find them BEFORE they're hot. I think it's a long shot, but not that long. I'm on board.

Completely agree with these last two posts. Brian would be ready to be the OC at Iowa. In fact, there were initially rumors about him taking the offensive reigns in New England.

I'm all for Brian taking over. I think the biggest thing he'll bring to the table is his youth. I've been saying for quite some time that Iowa needs an infusion of youth onto the staff. Someone who's passionate about Iowa (former player) and someone who could be absolutely huge on the recruiting front. Younger guys like Levar Woods and Brian Ferentz will only help with recruiting. Why not give it a shot?

As a fan I'd be excited. Why not give some young blood a shot. Josh McDaniels was young and had ZERO playcalling experience when he was first handed the keys to the Patriots offense, I don't see why it would be too much of a stretch to give the Iowa offense to Brian.

mcdaniel had more experience as a coach though. i have no problem with somebody that doesnt have playcalling experience. this was brian's 1st year as a paid coach. last year he basically coached from what ive read but wasnt considered a coach position wise. so if you count that he has 2 yrs of true coaching experience. hard to see someone with that little experience getting to be an oc at a top level college.

Agree 100 percent. I don't get how all these people think an NFL position coach and the son of the head coach has no shot in Hel of getting the OC job. Wake up people it's a serious possibility. People complained for years the game has passed the Hawks by. So why wouldn't we be up for some young blood.
