Look, breh, it's just a totally different feel. It takes some time to get used to, but the new system is better than blindly jumping from channel to channel and then remembering every channel a game is on.

Ever use a Fire stick?
Just looking for a comparison. I have an Amazon Fire stick I got for like $15 on Prime Day, but that's the only kind I've used.
Hulu was started by the major networks and Fox, IIRC, so that is unlikely.

Started yes, but not owned by them anymore. Walt Disney owns the controlling majority of Hulu (NBCUniversal owns 1/3), so I guess it's unlikely ESPN would try to renegotiate, but Fox Sports / BTN could.

I've talked about this before but there are better/faster options than the stick if you're willing to pay a little more. Instead of a Fire Stick you can get a Fire TV (I bought 4 at the same time). They have faster processors and other hardware so they are more responsive and change channels faster. They have Fire cube now too which I bet is even faster. I'm guessing Fire stick is almost exactly similar to a Roku stick.

I will also say that DTV has the best guide, menu and DVR by far. These are not major deals but I've found it really hard to navigate other menus when DTV nails it so well. On the other end, my DTV goes out during nasty storms and heavy snow days...which probably happens 5-ish times a year.
I plan on dropping DTV after this football season.

I just switched a couple of weeks ago to Hulu live and love it. No buffering issues and everything is on WiFi. I picked up a couple of Roku sticks for each TV (can't do the fire stick as Disney + won't be available on it as of right now). I figured since I need to get something for the Disney streaming service by November that I would give Hulu a try with the one week free trial. Cancelled Directv before the week free trial was even up.

Lol, I remember my dad could flick through over ten channels in .08 of a second and go right to the next game watch it for twenty seconds and in .08 of a second be right back on the previous channel. It’s like his wrist had a GPS built right into it. It was actually much quicker than hitting today’s “recall” button.
That’s also where I also learned how to curse. Cubs needing just one run to tie or win the game in the ninth inning with bases loaded and nobody out. Larry Bowa pops up for a infield out, strikes out or hits into a double play ( force play at home plate then throw to first base).

Yea, I think KCRC is thinking while programming is on and watching a game or show that right in the middle of it, it stalls with a wheel spinning for several seconds or minutes. That does not happen. At least my experience. It doesn't stall out in live programming during a show.

Hulu updated their guide a couple months ago, definitely better than it was because it's laid out where you can see future programming better. I like the "sports" option on the guide where it'll get rid of everything else on regular TV.
I watch the Vikings most weeks which are already on my local Fox, and maybe a couple games a year other than that so NFL isn't part of my list of stuff. For me, I watch college ball sun up to almost midnight on Saturdays, so Sunday is when I do yard work in the fall, take naps, and go to church with @SteveGarvey1
Yes, that is exactly what I'm worried about. But you are telling me it does not happen. Let me get this straight. These new streaming options run over WiFi, but never have connectivity problems? I just don't believe that. I have to go down to the storage room at least 3 times a week to unplug and plug back in the internet and wireless modems so that the kids can do their homework or play games on the ipad. But if I switch to a streaming service, magically my internet will support the streaming without any problems?
Yep. You nailed it. Not only that, but I bet your dad could tell you what was on each of those ten channels he flipped through to get between the games. His eye was trained to immediately identify commercials, reruns of his favorite shows, etc. in just an instant. The younger kids on this forum have no idea what we are talking about.

The streaming services are really good. I have Hulu, Prime, and Netflix, but as you said if your internet sucks then the streaming will suck and there is no way around that. I run them all through an Apple TV and my only gripes so far over the last year is I hate the fact that if I record an Iowa game on Hulu you cant skip commercials. Also, I am not a big fan of the apple TV remote. Other than that teh interface is good and there are plenty of games especially if you get the other network apps as well
That's not the kind of old school channel surfing Okeefe and I are talking about. See my previous post. Also, the guide can't tell you if that game is currently in a commercial break.

I dunno dude. It's weird. I have much less downtime than I had with DirecTV. I kept having to reset my DTV wireless router or reset the crap like you state. I'm serious, it hasn't happened.
But I will say I don't think it is one's best interest to run old hardware that gets outdated. I'm talking many years beyond. I would think you would want a fairly new router and watch what you get there. May want to increase your download speed a bit. I don't know your situation but can help. This has been as stable as cable, IMO. I was getting frustrated with DirecTV.
Who is your internet provider?
Download speed?
Age of routers?
We can access what you are dealing with. Look at all the people who are streaming live TV now, though. They wouldn't be doing it if still have issues. You should at least try the trial then you would know.
Oh, I have a family of 4, which includes twin 13 year old boys. Typically have wifey on facebook, boys either staring at their phones or playing PS4 along with prob 2 TV's going at once. I'm not getting any complaints. I think I pay like $64 or so bucks for my internet with moderate download speed.
Hopefully others will comment about their experiences and if consistent with my success with streaming. Good point you bring up though. I'm not sure why is so stable.

You don't want outdated routers either. It sounds as if KCRC would have to pony up to increase bandwidth and maybe update some hardware then would be good. Good thing about that is that that expense can be provided back with a few months of savings of what was paying, then savings will continue after that. I wouldn't fret about spending a little bit on bandwidth and hardware initially. You will get that back, much faster than getting back the overhead comparted to a 25 year solar system installation!!
