If someone knows they're leaving now, why would they wait until the end of the year to transfer? Might as well transfer now and get on someones roster this year for 2nd semester. Not buying this at all.
 
At some point do all of these transfers affect the graduation rate? I thought that I have read somewhere that transfers do hurt the NCAA mandated graduation percentage but I can't confirm. Will we end up losing some scholarships because in the last 3 years we will have had 8 or 9 transfers?

As I posted in another thread:

If the person wanting to transfer (see: Peterson, Palmer, Kelly) finishes the semester at the school and then transfers to another college in good standing, it doesn't hurt Iowa at all.

Ohio State is down two schollies because of Oden and Koufas dropping out in the 2nd semester.
 
I can't believe how many posts are being deleted out of this thread. It went from 61 down to 58, now it's back up to 64 again. The original post does seem to be out of the blue...
 
who leaves? Fuller? Brommer? Tucker?

if any of them go i will have to change my tune... ive been in full support of Lick but we cant keep losing guys... if this happens i will start the protest myself that enough is enough... can we get Lute back?
 
I'll add my response to the list. If Tucker, Fuller and Brommer leave at the end of this season (which won't surprise me), then Lick needs to go also. Something is wrong with this program (we all know who it is) and it needs to be corrected soon.
 
I have been a consistent supporter of Lick as well. I even tried to see the justification in the other transfers. However, if three of his recruits leave at the end of this year, I think Barta would need to look very hard at the direction of the program under Lick.

Unitl then, I will assume these are just rumors and support Lick and the program!
 
If Brommer left, and the staff was prepared by having targeted an immediate contributor from the juco ranks...a perimeter player...then I am ok with it.
I hope Tucker and Fuller stick it out..we need veteran depth the next two years. The only way I see us competing in the next few years is thru the ensemble veteran approach...10-11 guys that can all play. Of course, lick seems to prefer to have a short rotation..so might not matter.

Here's one hint I would give those who are looking for ways of culling the credible from the rest:

People who are genuinely connected to one of the major sports programs generally do not come to message boards trumpeting it as such.

Also, people who donate substantial sums to the athletic programs generally don't throw that out there as an indication of credibility. Lots of people who donate generously to the programs don't have any better information about what's going on that the average guy on the street.

Maybe Doc Gasser is the exception to these general truths, and maybe we are at risk of losing multiple transfers. However, if and when I come to buy that idea, it won't be because of a drive-by post like this.

Excellent Post Freddy. I am in the Kinnick Society and am a donor to the CHA renovation project as well. I sure as heck don't get any "secret updates." I don't have any better info than anyone else. i have some people I could call but I highly doubt that any of this transfer business is true.

I wonder why TK and Co. are deleting threads about said topic then....

I just started one about an hour ago over there because its being talked about here but not there. Got deleted in about 20 minutes and someone said all transfer talk is being deleted.

Something strange is going on.

Or maybe Kakert and Co. know that there is nothing to this and that someone is playing games with gullible fans and, in an effort to keep this garbage from spiraling out of control, are being proactive about things.

Do you believe everything you read on the internet?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to finish booking a flight to Vegas for me and my mom for Christmas.
 
If someone or someones wanted to leave, and knew it now, they'd leave at semester.

Iowa is 3-7. I am sure people are not happy about it. But we are not going to play this game all winter.

If you have links, post them. Drive by stuff like this is not going to become a regular occurrence on these boards. Enough.
