What Game are you most looking forward to this fall?

If you're a sane, rational fan, you'll just enjoy the games as the come. If you're life revolves areound which game to look forward to, you probably need to get a life and look at your priorities......

I'm 'looking forward' to my step-sons firstyear marching in the band. I'm 'looking forward' to the birth of my first grandchild...football is supposed to be a pleasant 'distraction' from the grind...I love football and have been invloved with it most of my life, but some of you need to get a grip and a life................Go volunteer and do something important instead of trying to 'live' through some college kids....pathetic....

If I had to look forward to watching a marching band I would shoot myself in the face. No wonder you act like you do on here.

Come on... it's his kid.. Do you not have kids? Or family at all? If your not proud of your kids/families accomplishments then one could say that explains a lot about you as well...
And for those going to the extreme of how people prioritize their lives around sports it just is what it is. Everyone is different. A huge chunk of the country carves out their weekends to go to or watch college and or pro games. One could say why spend that much of your money/time on any of it if you want to. But how I look at it is we only have one life. Live it how you want. Spend the money you worked for how you want. And don't sweat what other people think. If your not hurting anyone else it's of no consequence to them.

My son was in the marching band. He did a great job.

Every game at Kinnick is fun and a great distraction. I'm just happy that Iowa has a talented team and that Ferentz is still our head coach

Don't belittle other people if you don't want belittled yourself.

I agree with that too. It's a human nature knee jerk reaction. I get why you wrote what you did. Just wish people overall on here wouldn't go all personal and be mean to each other. I'd like to think we come on here to chat about our Hawks, sports and have fun. It's fun to me to see others opinions and angles on how they look at things. But it frustrates me to see food fights on here. I'm not meaning to point finger just at you either it takes two to tango. Just don't understand why go there at all? I'd like to think there are other places to go do that sort of stuff. I'm pretty sure it's not what Jon intended with this when he set it all up.

This is a jerky comment. The comment about the band likely would have come even if he hadn't done the earlier comments. Maybe you yourself should have minded your own business...then I wouldn't be commenting on your jerky comment.

You may be right. It would have been 100% joking tho. But since his main goal on here seems to be to get under people's skin, it wasn't said as a joke.

And why does talking about what game you're most looking forward to mean your life revolves around football.

Yea, I know right. Why is he even on here then. I guess we can't get excited about football or have an opinion. I guess I need to volunteer somewhere so that I get a life & not live thru these college young men. I am wasting my life away.

Did you see the thread where people were talking about hawknick and he was acting like he was him? The only way their posts resemble each other is they are blatantly meant to get reaction. I put the odds of him having a step son in a marching band at about 5%. If I was trolling making fun of people for liking football too much and had to think of a dorky example of something better to do, I would probably say watching my step son in a marching band. If I loved my step son enough for it to be the first example to come to mind of something I look forward to, I would leave out the word "step". He is definitely hawknick. He just has a different shtick this time.

Michigan. What excuse is Deace going to have for "Jimmy" and his Blue Hens when they lose?

Excellent point! Yes, why the need to include the "step". You think outside the box.

One trap I want to avoid is to expect Iowa to win the Division again this year. Last year was a very special season....everything fell into place for Iowa. I do expect Iowa to be very, very competitive in every game this fall, with a realistic chance of a division title and a great bowl game.

Wisconsin. Despite Wiscy's tough schedule, that game could determine the west division champion like it did last year.

Plus IF Iowa can come into that game undefeated and come out with a win, that will be Iowa's chance to break into the top 8.

Michigan 10 years ago would be the top game, but since Carr retired, Michigan always seems like the most over-rated team in the BigTen. Mich is still the team that barely beat Minny and Indy last year and got blown out by OSU. I am not ready to proclaim them a top 10 team yet.

I am actually more concerned with Nebraska, NW, and Minny than Mich. Maybe because they are in the same division, I guess.

None of that matters since they hired Harbaugh who took over the team and went 10-3 including winning a January bowl game against Florida his first year as head coach.

I just saw on ESPN that Michigan is the most popular bet to win the college football national title. Granted they're not the favorite but it shows the type of hype they have coming into the season.
