What does each team lose next year...

Glad he can shoot, how many B10 impact players have come from that HS conference? Just curious what kind of competition he's going against. Not many small white guards make an impact in B10, especially as a freshman.

I'd be pleasantly surprised after seeing his highlight tape if he saw much time next season.

B10 impact? Not sure. National impact? Marcus Paige

Wow...the Big Ten as a whole looks like it will be really down next year. Who is the runaway Big Ten favorite at this point for next year? I honestly have no idea. It seems wide open

Michigan State loses a ton but they do have 2 5-stars and 2 4-stars coming in next year.

I do expect Nigel Hayes to come out after this year, but could easily be wrong. One thing I find interesting is that Wisconsin signed ZERO players in their recruiting class. Obviously the turnover with Bo Ryan and all of that was probably the main cause, but you go to back-to-back final fours and send the player of the year to the NBA, and you basically get nothing out of it by way of recruiting? That has to be tough to swallow in madison. Bo Ryan may have left that program in shambles depending on how this year and the next couple years go.

Michigan is an interesting team in that they already know what its like to be without LeVert. However, without LeVert they haven't been all that impressive either.

Im still bullish on the Hawks next season. I think Moss is going to surprise people. With Jok as a preseason all big ten, Cook coming in and hopefully some further development by Dom...I think a core is there to do....something. The Hawks will have a brand new identity though that's for sure. Uthoff/Gesell/Woody seem to be "all business" but Jok will be the senior and he's more showy and flashy. I'd expect more athleticism and a lot more turnovers. Fun to watch though. Alley oops and all that. I don't know if the Hawks have thrown a single alley oop this year, which is crazy considering all the Alley Oops they threw to Aaron White last year.
You are right, I never thought/noticed the lach AO's this year. Part of that was just Aaron's game and part is that is who you going to throw it to this year. Woody, no.

With Woody gone, you assume Dom sliding in, but who will be the No. 5 options next year? Am I missing someone?

One thing to keep in mind is that we have 10 players coming back next year. Most of them will have played together for over a year & a half by the time next season starts. TEN... That 's more than UNI & ISU combined! Throw in a good recruiting class and I think we will be OK. Especially if we have ok to solid PG play.

Is Diamond Stone for sure gone? Nigel Hayes gone too?

Guys, Fran knew he would have some issues at PG after losing 2 seniors point guards basically. That's why he has tried his best to find minutes for Williams. Now I understand he has done virtually nothing when he has played, but at least he has played. Any experience is good experience, right? And I think he'll be better off for it next year. So stop saying "who the heck will be the PG?!" It's obviously going to be him...not saying he will be spectacular, but we do know it WILL be him.

Also, is Bohannon really a PG? honest question. Just always assumed he was a shooting guard. And even if he can play some PG, there is no way he comes in and beats out Williams right out of high school.

Stone is projected as a 1st round pick in every mock draft I've checked. They lose a lot of talent. I don't know why he would come back.

The mock drafts I have checked all have Hayes in the mid to late 2nd round. Wisconsin will have a better team next year and he will be the best player on that team. He would be my personal preseason pick for Big 10 Player of the Year. I think it makes sense for him to come back. I have no idea what he's thinking.

So you say Williams has virtually done nothing this year, then you say there is no way an incoming freshman can beat him out? I heard Kenyon Murry in a podcast (he's an iowa high school coach) say he has the handles to play PG in the Big 10. He just needs to get bigger. He also said he shoots 5 feet behind the 3 point line effortlessly.

Gesell was a scorer in high school and then played PG for Iowa as a freshman...and the rest of his Iowa career. I don't understand why Bohannon at PG is so hard for some people to grasp/accept. He and Williams will most likely share the duties. There's nothing wrong with our starting PG being able to shoot the 3 and make free throws. This seems like a good thing to me...but what do I know.

When I Google Jordan Bohannon it typically says Point Guard next to his name. Below is one random scout's comments...happens to be the 1st one I checked. And they had him listed as a Point Guard.

STRENGTHS
3pt Shooting
Ball-Handling
Fundamentally Sound
Making Correct Passes
Mid-Range Shooting
Ability To Create Plays

Skills Review:
Shooting: Excellent
Dribbling: Good
Passing: Good
Rebounding: Average
Intangibles: Average

These are Bohannon's stats through 21 games.

FG 49.0%
3 Point 43.1%
FT 92.5%
Scoring 25.3
Rebounds 5.2
Assists 2.5
TOs 1.5

He would probably have more assists if he could pass to himself.

We have so many question marks for next year that it's likely we are an NIT team at best. Hope I'm wrong but we will go from being the most experienced team in the B1G to the least experienced.

"At best" is where you lost me. We lose a lot of experience and an All-American, but we also return an All-BIG player in Jok, an athletic big in Cook whom Iowa's never had a player like before, and Moss who I think is going to be Iowa's next special player.

I didn't expect it either. But he's not projected to be a 1st round pick. Why leave?
Some sites still have him as a 1st rd pick. I don't see it, personally but I'm hardly an NBA scout. He's a tweener IMO. I'm not saying he's gone. Connie fans are saying it. They certainly could be mistaken. The main point to their theory was that he would be graduating this year. I don't know if it's true or not. I just don't ever see anyone arguing about it on their message board when people say that this is his last year. It seems to be the accepted situation among them.

Edit: Last time looked, Hayes was at the bottom of the first rd projections on several sites. Now he's in the 2nd rd.

Totally agree with the Hayes breakdown. I have never seen him (or Dekker for that matter) as NBA guys. Not good enough shooter to be outside threats. Not quick enough to be a slasher, and not big enough to play down low in he NBA. Great college players, just not NBA guys.

Here's Brady Ellingson's stats from HS and Ellingson is quite a bit bigger than Bohannon. I think Williams will be our PG next year and he'll end up being a pretty good one

High school -- Finished his prep career as Hamilton High School's all-time leading scorer with 1,763 points... back-to-back Greater Metro Conference Player of the Year (2013 and 2014)... two-time all-state and three-time Greater Metro Conference first team honoree... two-time team MVP and three-time team captain... first team WBCA All-State, second team Associated Press All-State, and first team All-Waukesha County and first team All-Lake County honoree as a senior... selected to play in the 2014 WBCA All-Star Game... averaged 24.8 points per game, 4.3 rebounds and 2.65 assists his senior season... shot free throws at a 92 percent clip his season year... shot a school single-season record 48 percent (86-of-179) from 3-point territory

Yeah. Dekker is the other side of it. He could never play in the post against NBA players. Hayes can never play from the wing against NBA players. Hayes isn't skilled enough or tall enough to play NBA PF. Dekker is too slow to play NBA SF. Tweeners. They might cash NBA paychecks for a few years as bench players but it won't last long.
Funny thing is, I see Uthoff becoming a good NBA player because he has plenty of room to get stronger. And he can play defense. Something Dekker can't do. Some NBA team is going to get a steal in Uthoff, IMO. There's a lot of things that an NBA team can't help you with. Strenght training is something that they absolutely CAN help you with. He'll get a lot stronger.

It's definitely possible that Bohannon won't be quick enough to get a shot off in D1. It doesn't sound like that's the case tho. It's also possible Ellingson would be pretty good if he was forced into lots of minutes.

I agree, you never know how it will translate to the next level. I don't agree with Ellingson though, he just doesn't look like he belongs out there

He's a skinny white kid with a baby face. When a kid who looks like him does something bad, it stands out more than when a strong "athletic looking" guy makes a mistake. It doesn't help that he's not making shots.
