What does each Big 10 team lose next year?

He would be a fine recruit for a team that was needing a spot up number 2 shooter. We already have several of those. I have no problem with him. I have a problem with bringing in a taller JBo.

Where is the 1? Where is the legit 3?
Weiskamp is a legit 3. We have no 1 or 2 that can play defense at the BIG level.

So let's say Connor is a better defender than Moss (doesn't take much at all), Weiskamp is a better defender than Baer (doesn't take much at all) and Bohannon is a better defender with a healthy foot than he was with a jacked up foot. That would be 3 positions upgraded on defense.

There is a very realistic chance we will have 2 new starters next year. That is a pretty big upgrade for a team. Baer can go back to being a bench player. Bohannon can play off the ball more. We will have more shooters on the team. Garza and Nunge with a year to get stronger. We will have a fresh start and a reason to play harder. There is a lot of things that point to a chance to be better. Wieskamp and Bohannon shooting 3s sounds pretty darn good to me.
Connor probably is a better defender than Moss. But Connor is going to play the 1. Which means Bohannon is going to play the 2. Bohannon, even with a good foot, is not a better defender than anyone on this current team.
JW is going to play the 3. He could be an upgrade over Baer but as a FR, he will likely split time with Baer at the position. Either way, we get back to all of them playing for a coach that doesn't regard defense as a priority worthy of devoting practice time to.

No big argument, but he is a bit small as a 3. Not as big of an issue if your point on 1 and 2 weren't an issue.
He's a legit 6'6 and he's long. That's not small for the 3. BIG teams current 3s
MSU - 6'7 Bridges
OSU - 6'4 Tate
Purdue - 6'4 Mathias
Michigan - 6'8 Robinson
Nebraska - 6'5 Taylor
PSU - 6'4 Reeves
Indiana - take your pick of the 3 or 4 guards that are 6'3
NW - 6'7 Law

Usually in HS they bump up several inches. https://247sports.com/Player/Joe-Wieskamp-80081

He's listed at 6.4 which means usually shorter than that. Looking at videos I'd say 6.3 or a tad less.

OK saw some newer video. At least 6.4. How has Muscatine not been dominant?

Are you old enough to remember Special K, Steve Waite, Kevin Boyle, Bobby Hansen and Gannon all playing on the floor at the same time? They were more athletic than what we are looking at if Cook is gone.
Boyle was a lock down defensive specialist who was drafted by Philly, I played a pick-up game with him in the PEC in Cedar Falls, horrible shooter!! Went 3 for like 30.

In all fairness, I thought Conner made the offense smoother and didn't turn it over much, but it was a small sample.

I've stood right in front of him and shook his hand as early as last summer. He's legit 6'6. I'm 6' tall. I know what 6'6 looks like when it's right in front of me. Take my word for it. Or don't. Makes no difference to me. I'm well aware of how they fudge heights on the roster sheet.

Really long arms too right?

If he were playing for a coach that coached and demanded defense, he is athletic enough.

Good point. We've got plenty of guys on the roster capable of playing good enough defense under the right circumstances. Fran is not the right circumstances for that. He needs great defenders to be average defenders.

When you say this roster has a ceiling of 2nd round blowout, do you mean for next year or two years from now too? I agree with you next year for sure. But two years is a long ways away and guys like Nunge, Garza, and Weiskamp could be huge upgrades by then over what we have now.

Pick a year. It won't matter. 2018...2019.....2020. Will......not.....matter. At some point in a tournament, we'll need some defensive stops. Since we don't coach it or practice it, we'll come up short. We will never see a BIG conference title or a deep tourny run under Fran. He doesn't coach or recruit well enough. His son's aren't good enough. We can place a wager on it, if you like.

How has Muscatine not dominated. Does he ever go against 6.8 guys who are decent? The video shows him as tall or taller than most players. The videos online are all against the likes of Burlington it seems.
