What did we miss on Desmond King?

More than a dozen DB's have been drafted and no DK. Did he blow millions of dollars coming back for his senior year? I know he is talented but is he going to be selling insurance in 2018?
 
Someone drop $3 and see if Dez had a diluted sample or something. Some of these guys going before him are not better than him.

I'll help you out. The Kirk brand ...is tired. He doesn't have the gravitas with the NFL he did 10 years ago. Athletic ability trumps... discipline, not making mistakes, executing your assignment.. etc etc etc. Give me a playmaker.
 
He forgot to send in his draft eligibility paperwork. He will be a first rounder in next year's draft guaranteed.
 
Dez will probably go before the end of the 3rd. He cost himself millions but he wanted his degree. That was another of his dreams. This is probably the best DB class in history.
 
Desmond is seen as to small and too slow to play CB, so will have to play safety or nickel, which means he'll have to learn a new position. Not my words, just found it in some draft profiles of him.

Is it your statement that King isn't a "playmaker"? Remember Offenses spent the better part of a season and half avoiding an entire quarter of the field because of King. King will out perform and outlast half of the DB's drafted above him. It is a travesty that he is still on the board.

I also now think that was a poor decision. At the time the defense looked to be a strong unit. They expected Ott to get the medical year and the Offense was looking promising. CJB, experienced O line, MVB. I think King was thinking playoffs. He was thinking being a star on a national contender. I bet if that had happened he still would have went 1st round. the crying shame is how much the 2016 team let him down.

I'd regret not getting my degree. His play will determine his paycheck. If he regrets coming back so be it, but in the end the game on the field will determine his pay either way
 
It's the typical NFL talent evaluation bull crap. Somehow someone thinks because a CB from Lamar ran a 4.45 forty and had a better vertical, that he's a better football player. They forget who they played against and whether they played every week...and if they can handle a complex defensive scheme. It's that same crap year in and year out. King's a smart, physical defensive back who will be a great NFL safety or nickel corner. It's a shame, but the draft process in many situations is for a bunch of evaluators to look for the hidden gem hiding in Division II, while they walk by diamonds in plain sight.
 
Pretty lazy of the GMs out there... I could make a case King should have been a top 5 corner. Now there's like 20 some DBs off the board ahead of him? There must be something out there we don't know... Due to on the field play what else could you want? He's a hair under 5'11 I believe. Not tall but by no means too short. He's 200-205. Right there for what the position is. He ran a 4.5 flat 40 time. The Tabor kid from FL ran like a 4.7 during his pro day. Yet he's drafted ahead of him. King is as physical of a tackler of a DB as there is not to mention has the best ball skills and can return kicks... I really really hope he goes to the right fit when he finally does come off the board so he can ball out and really cash in on his 2nd contract..

Exactly what I was going to say. It's why there are so many late round guys that make Pro Bowls. 4 rookies made the pro bowl last year. 3 of them were drafted in rounds 4-7.
