What did we miss on Desmond King?

They must of loss all the tape on him for the 2015 season. He didn't have that many balls thrown his way in 2016,plus punt and kick off returner. What isn't there to like.If you look at the whole package he's a steal for any team.

As a Steeler fan I know we could use him our nickel/slot corner(William Gay) is 150 years old.

Kinda feel bad for him, unless he turns into Darrell Revis he will never be able to make that money up. Getting his degree is great, fulfilling a promise to momma is even better, but man that is a lot of money left on the table.

Some team will get a steal. I read he did very poor at the senior bowl in man coverage and with all these DBs teams are looking for a player who can do both at a decent level so he needs a team that plays zone.

He's a great student of the game and at the senior bowl he was not able to utilize that. He plays better than his physical skill level, not that its poor he's just not tall and not super fast. He will get drafted, start his first season and play 10 years or more.

He can't play man coverage, too slow. He was awful at the senior bowl trying to play man coverage. Scouts took notice of this, and it's a big reason he's fallen so far. At times last year, his effort and tackling were very questionable.

I'll help you out. The Kirk brand ...is tired. He doesn't have the gravitas with the NFL he did 10 years ago. Athletic ability trumps... discipline, not making mistakes, executing your assignment.. etc etc etc. Give me a playmaker.

Drummer, this is a silly statement on your part. If you really believe that disciplined, mistake free execution is not highly valued in the NFL, you probably should rethink your position. The KF "brand", if you have defined it correctly, is more highly valued today than it was 10 years ago. These guys who get as far as Des are all athletic beyond your wildest dreams.

Exactly what I was going to say. It's why there are so many late round guys that make Pro Bowls. 4 rookies made the pro bowl last year. 3 of them were drafted in rounds 4-7.

Sometimes these "pro scouts" sound more like ESPN talking heads than football experts.

Well, he had one of the fastest 40 times and cone times of any of the corners in the draft. And, most of the stuff written on him sees tackling as one of his greatest strengths. He may, for that reason, end up as a safety, or a Micah Hyde type nickle, returner, jack of all trades type guy. I doubt that one game of poor man coverage would be a defining moment in his draft status. Maybe Occam's razor is the best answer: He is under rated and will have a long and productive NFL career.

Yep, that's what comes out of your mouth (keyboard) when you've had a few with your buds and disappointed that you haven't seen your guys drafted. Happens. My bad.

Sorry, Drum, but I am used to your consistent reliance on insulting people who call you out. I think I will sleep well tonight.

You may have me confused with someone else. I'm all about healthy disagreement. I only "insult" people when they've attacked me first. Somebody disagreeing with me is cool, but I don't care for the "you're an idiot" lead in (unless of course you're talking to a clone... but then it's redundant, of course). When I get that, I'll give it right back, but I much prefer to play nice.

It's the typical NFL talent evaluation bull crap. Somehow someone thinks because a CB from Lamar ran a 4.45 forty and had a better vertical, that he's a better football player. They forget who they played against and whether they played every week...and if they can handle a complex defensive scheme. It's that same crap year in and year out. King's a smart, physical defensive back who will be a great NFL safety or nickel corner. It's a shame, but the draft process in many situations is for a bunch of evaluators to look for the hidden gem hiding in Division II, while they walk by diamonds in plain sight.

Winner winner chicken dinner!!!!

I think it's pretty obvious he should have declared for draft after junior year. It's a lil perplexing why he's still on the board.
