What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB season?

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

I can't believe more people aren't looking forward to the Football season. My god it's not like everyone blew us out and physically abused us. Penn State and Michigan kind of did, but we could have won every other game we played and should have beaten ISU, Central Michigan, Purdue, and Indiana. That's the difference between 4-8 and 8-4. Hell, I'll even throw the Nebraska game in there. We were in those games and had chances to win. Are you all saying those games couldn't just as easily gone our way as opposed to the way they went. With a young team, and crappy offense, and critical injuries...we were a few plays in several games from going 9-3 or 8-4.

Now, we have a great nucleus of players back, and our coordinators are now in the second years and have added some nice hires to their staffs. Granted the schedule was easier last year...but we will be much better just based on what is returning. Can our QB play actually go down? I don't think so. It's not as bad as some of the negative nellies will tell you it is. I'm optimistic we get back on track.

"should have beaten ISU, Central Michigan, Purdue, and Indiana."

lol

"we have a great nucleus of players back"

lol.

4 wins next year, if the ball bounces Iowa's way.

I think the closer it gets to football season I'll probably be right there with you.

The Kool aid is like a leaky faucet right now. It will gain some flow as the season approaches and everyone is thirsty for some football. Admittedly, I can see myself drinking it too. Should be a good qb battle.....dam,....I'm already starting...I need to pace myself.

I'll show up for both seasons...all in. As always. (OK, Lickliter year 3...I was fully divested)

But I'll bet dollars to donuts...at this time next year, we'll all feel a lot better about Fran's program than Kirk's.

1-2 wins in the NCAA vs no bowl...or another Insight Bowl at best.

Right now I would be ecstatic with the Insight.

Being a die hard Hawkeye fan and football season is before basketball season, I can honestly say that I am looking forward to football! That being said, I am super excited about the potential of next year's basketball team...but I am most looking forward to watching this year's basketball team kick Virginia's booty tomorrow night!

Red = Football interest
Blue = Basketball interest

Go back to, oh, the 70s and you'll see how this recurs.

Basketball.

I have no faith in Kirk Ferentz to produce anything but overly cautious, afraid to make mistakes, yet mistake prone sloppy garbage. And then to continue to do it over and over and over.

Outside of '09 and '10, it's always been basketball before football for me. That's definitely the case this year as well. The only thing that really keeps it close is that football games are much more easily accessible for me since I don't have BTN at home.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

We like basketball now...because we are winning.

Personally...I am pumped for both. New seasons...new hope.

6:7 wins satisfies me next year in FB....7:8 in '14....I guess I accept "mediocrity".

This too...shall pass.

Its gonna be a brutal off season on here.

Football really does feel like basketball in 11-12. There are signs on the horizon, but not all holes are filled and a lot of people with no experience will be needed to step up in key positions.

Basketball feels like the football team felt coming out of the 2001 or 2008 seasons.

I don't see how anyone can be looking forward to football next year after seeing the offense that Davis come up with.

3rd and 7 and we have routes that are designed to stop at the line of scrimmage to the tight end. There is no hope for a coach that designs plays like that or for a head coach that allows him to do it and then brings him back for another year.

Davis and the QB are questions....but I will wait and see.

I watched most of the games again mostly to see if routes were beyond the marker. There was usually one AT the marker and usually at Least 1-2 others past the marker. Many times the pass was thrown to a safely or check down...at least enough evidence for me to see if a different QB would go elsewhere with the ball or hit a check down in stride....

But I don't know...yet.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

I love basketball, but I love football more.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Would I want to skip football season sight unseen to go right to hoops? Probably not. But I am looking forward to next basketball season more than next football season.

Nawww.....spring then summer will be upon us. Golf, warm weather, motorcycle-riding, swimming, the smell of grass. It's all good man. Hawkeye-stuff simply makes it better.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

I just got back from Albuquerque about a week ago. While I was there, basking in the 70* weather, it suddenly hit me: Iowa is a Football school.

Now you know
