What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB season?

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Since it has been almost 2 years since Iowa played football, I forgot we had a team.

Yes, it's pretty heretical to think anybody is looking forward to football more than they are basketball. Football has a lot of work to do before it's really exciting again; most of the appeal is tailgating/atmosphere related, at this point (and there's nothing wrong with finding that to be enough). But basketball is on the edge of something great.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Well, considering the recent trends of each program, definitely next year's BB team. I have zero expectations for this year's football team being very good. It's hard to get too excited when you have no expectations.

If I didn't have season tickets to football I would say ball easily

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

BB easily. Might get rid of my football tix and get bball tix

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

I'm looking forward to football season. 2nd year for some coaches and 1st year for others. Looking forward to progress, but that could change quickly.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

FB will be an unmitigated disaster. But hey, that's football.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Basketball - when all you can hope for in football is a .500 record it's not much to get excited about. There is nothing to feel good about regarding football - lack of confidence in coaching and this isn't a player I can't wait to see perform.
Do they have anybody likely to play in the NFL on this current roster? Usually an O-lineman, maybe C.J., but I can't get excited about him catching the ball 1 yard over the line of scrimmage.

The glass is half full for hoop team. They can beat anybody they play next year, can't say that about football team.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Can't believe I am going to say BB over FB. Sad state of affairs.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Football....partly because the sports overlap and if football is a disaster we still have bb to soothe our wounds. Nothing as fun as attending those bb scrimmages in the morning, speculating and fantasizing about bb success, then walking over to Kinnick on a nice fall day to watch the Hawks kick Minny's arse, like last year. with a beer.

Now this is funny ^^^^

But I am looking forward to FB. I want to see improvement, I want to see at least 6 wins, I want to see a bowl game. I want to see the players succeed and I hope it is exciting.

Cmon, turn around a few close loses and we will be fine.

I had to think for a minute, but I have to say I'm curious to see the two highly recruited d lineman who redshirted last year in Jaleel Johnson and Faith Ekakitie. I have no feel of how good I think they'll be, but they're big and bigger. It'll be nice to see some size on the DL.

Ultimately though, I have to say basketball for me. Could be a great year next year.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

I can't believe more people aren't looking forward to the Football season. My god it's not like everyone blew us out and physically abused us. Penn State and Michigan kind of did, but we could have won every other game we played and should have beaten ISU, Central Michigan, Purdue, and Indiana. That's the difference between 4-8 and 8-4. Hell, I'll even throw the Nebraska game in there. We were in those games and had chances to win. Are you all saying those games couldn't just as easily gone our way as opposed to the way they went. With a young team, and crappy offense, and critical injuries...we were a few plays in several games from going 9-3 or 8-4.

Now, we have a great nucleus of players back, and our coordinators are now in the second years and have added some nice hires to their staffs. Granted the schedule was easier last year...but we will be much better just based on what is returning. Can our QB play actually go down? I don't think so. It's not as bad as some of the negative nellies will tell you it is. I'm optimistic we get back on track.

basketball in a landslide.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Basketball, the off season is going to be brutal. I am having a hard time getting excited about what could be another sub .500 season in football, and someone named Kurt keeping his job following it.

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Basketball. Our football program is a joke but hey our facilities are gunna be neat. How do you only win 4 games with that easy schedule in your 13th year?

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Hoops baby.

Iowa football is on a huge downslide. If you think last season was ugly, then .........

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

I always and forever will look forward to football the most...only because it is first on the agenda. And, the FB team will go 8-4 next fall and get a decent bowl game. With the new BT team alignment at East and West, Iowa actually will get a break, at least short run, in their schedule the following year(s). Basketball: I am so excited about the future of this team, I can hardly wait! Great coaches, great players, great fans, excellent conference...wow. So, I already have confirmed season football tickets, have my application in for all of the away games, and have already ordered my season basketball tickets for next year. Also on my schedule will be Iowa's bowl game and the BT tournament. Go Hawks!

Re: What are you more looking forward to? This year's FB season or next year's BB sea

Basketball. Always was my first Hawkeye love. Football over took it for the lick years but now It's not even close again. Ill still watch all football games but hopefully won't get emotionally vested in it as I normally in. My young heart can't take it after the last couple years both bball and fball.
