We’re Gonna Get Killed By Nebraska Next Week

Illinois was missing their best player and arguably the best running back in the league Corbin. He had one carry for minus 4 yards. He got injured last week. He previously averaged about 8-9 yards a carry this season. I am sure that hurt Illinois tremendously who obviously need all the help they can get. Not sure how much we can take away from this game. It was good to see Fant and Epenesa make significant contributions!
Corbin's backup went for 21 and 100, albeit with a costly fumble.

Again, very few people would disagree that there wasn't much to take out of that game. I shocked that Lovie still has a job. Think of what Fitz and jNW could do to them, even if they don't win by 63 points.

I think Illinois has significant financial woes, not sure what they can afford to do. Football team has been bad for a number of years and football pays the bills. The state is a financial mess and not likely to help in trying to rebuild the football program.

It's great to be a Hawkeye!

If you're saying they can't afford to buy out Lovie, that's fine.

We'll just kick his ass for a couple more years as well.

It is great to be a Hawkeye.

But Jonathon Taylor may have something to say about your assessment of Corbin.

Nebraska has beaten Minnesota, Illinois, Bethune Cookman And a demoralized MSU team with a clueless back-up quarterback. This is the worst Nebraska team Iowa has played in the last 4 years. Iowa wins and it will not be close.

I watched the MSU - Nebraska game. Lombardi was rough in the first half...but in the second half, the kid played well. MSU had at least 7 drops in the second half of that game. Their TE dropped a sure touchdown, and had three other drops. You cannot pin that loss on Lombardi. We are going to rue the day he ended up at MSU. The kid is a gamer...and I'd take him over Stanley any day of the week, well over bad Stanley anyway...good Stanley has potential.

Since their former AD made that idiotic comment about how "we're not Iowa" or whatever he said we have ridden Nebraska like a rented mule. And their offensive lineman "I can't wait to beat Iowa. I really can't."

Bring it, buttercup. Let's see whatcha got. Besides what's between the lips.

So you are saying it might have been more like 42-21?

Officiating will matter.... Huskers 2ndary does more grabbing/holding than anyone - only way they keep more big plays from happening. Defense will do the job. See Maryland / NW / Illini / Indy - all who rack up yds & pts v. others but not the Hawks! 96-24 the last 2 yrs - do it again
Yeah they better be on top of that crap.
Everyone should have guessed that including the b10 office and officials when word out of Nebraska was if you are not getting called for holding you are not pushing it far enough.

I think we hammer them.
I have no doubt this is like their super bowl. Last game, no bowl game, ect. But I think they are going to be surprised how fired up our guys are as well.
Is it possible we graduate a class who can say they never lost to Nebraska? Yes, yes it is. Probably more than one class.
I think they played their first real defense since Michigan and now will see another.

Gotta look for positives against a common opponent.

No doubt "good Iowa, good KF/BF, good Stanley" need to show up....however....

nebby gave up 500+ yards, 35 points to this Illinois team...1 week ago....in Lincoln.

Now, dont get me wrong, if we get down early, have turnovers, and give up big plays... it could be bad. nebby can score points and has talent.

Hawks need to be fired up and start fast.

This game is a big one for this Hawkeye fan.

Neighborhood bragging rights are on the line, Walker.....

What's up, cats and kittens.

Yes you're right as rain on that I have just come to not take anything for granted. That NW loss took it out of me.

No judgement for sensible fear of the unexplainable. We all know that a dumbfounding loss is always right around the corner. This game will he decided by the players though and not our coaches. Clearly Iowa players have not abandoned the season and sheer physical will is plenty enough to beat Nebraska. The odds are very low that we lose. That is why I can't help but laugh at the notion that we get blown out as the thread title asserts. Fearing a dog performance is reasonable. Expecting it is foolish.

Nice to see the rapist defender coming out of the woodwork after his winning streak. How’s that gun hiding business goin?

I do think your team is going to win but you’re still a rape enthusiast and promoter at the end of the day. Tell us some more how Larry Phillips was such a a good guy and how Tom was just hiding guns because he was more in charge-ish than the NE state patrol. I’ll wait to hear the explanation on this one...

@74Hunter is a rape/assault encouragement pawn, but don’t hold it against him. He was dropped off in the Oglala School District as an orphan at a young age. They only had scratch paper, ditto machines (you know the purple print...), and outhouses. We can’t expect anything else from him than the defense of Baby Jesus Osborne.

I really wish he would have answered the questions I asked him over the past year, though. It maybe would have helped him crawl out of the pre-evolution mud that is Nebraska but, alas, I hoped for too much. Maybe some day he’ll say he disapproves of rape and murder.

I won’t hold my breath though...are you taking bids on your autographed Larry Phillips commissary list?

Damn.....!

I'm not sure the OP knows what he's talking about. Name one game where Iowa has been "killed" this year. Now you are saying a team that has not beaten a good team, and they are playing in our house against our defense...is somehow going to kill us? Ok. In my opinion...the only way Nebraska wins this game is if the Penn State Nate Stanley shows up.

I was fiddling around like Nero and accidentally clicked on the Remove Formatting button and can't turn it back on. It there any way to turn it on again.....
