We not only are bringing back the worst offensive coordinator in recent Iowa history....we are doing it at the same time we will be starting a QB who's never taken a single snap in an FBS football game. Not only that, but whoever the QB is doesn't even have the luxury of having a QBs best friend....a productive running back to take the load and pressure off of him.

We will beat Missouri State and Western Michigan and that's it. We will go 0'fer in the conference which will then perfectly close the circle on the Ferentz Era...matching his very first season in Iowa City.

It's too bad, really, because I think Ferentz is a great guy. But his stubborn, bull-headed loyalty in the face of facts and results will ultimately be his undoing. My understanding is that GD was prepared to retire/resign, but Ferentz convinced him to return.
 
What makes you think we'll beat Western Michigan?

If they match this year's record with 4-8, it will be a good year. Remember, we have a starting QB that doesn't have a single snap. What a total disservice to the young guys that put in so much time and energy to have incompetent coaches lead them to another crappy season.
 
Anything under 6 wins with a bowl and Ferentz needs to be fired next season. No exceptions after Davis coming back.

I thought you said GD was not going to be back next year and we were to remember where we heard it first?
 
I wouldn't even count the missou st game as a W yet. The idiot always manages to lose a game we had no business losing. That would be the perfect one for next year.
 
What speed do we have coming in at the WR position? Or even the RB position? Garmon was the fastest of all our RB's this year, but he seemed to be a little lost out there. Of course getting injured didn't help, but not like we sub'd him in all that much to get him into the flow of a game.

We have KMM, and Smith at WR. KMM has shown to be more of a possesion guy (when he catches the ball), and I don't know what Smith has yet as we've only seen him targeted on 5 yard outs.

We could have thrown deep to CJF or other TE's (and the few times we did target them over 10 yards, we seem to have success!!!).

6-6 next year. Even with a bad offense I think our defense will be solid...and if our Offensive line stays healthy we proved we can score. When they got hurt, we could not do anything. We tend to play well against Michigan State usually also...so who knows. However 6-6 I think is the BEST I can see happening.
 
Not surprised. Just like the Hawkeyes' opponents will be preparing for Iowa's offense.

With our healthy offensive line, we lost to CMU.
 
Let's not forget that there will also be a brand new center next year.

Speaking of, does anybody know if anyone other Ferentz took a snap at center this year?

Our defense will not be solid, and I will bet my season tickets for 2014 that we go no better than 2-2 OOC.

No way we beat Northern Illinois. We lucked into a win and with Lynch coming back, who's accounted for over 2,500 yds passing and 1,500 yds rushing, no way we win that one. As far as ISU, we have only won there once in the last 10 years (2009 with Stanzi....before that it was 2003 with Chandler), no way we win that one. And we haven't won in Minnesota since they built their new stadium, so until we do, I'll call that a loss. We MIGHT beat Purdue.....depends on who they hire as head coach.

As far as our defense being solid....how do you figure? We were 114 out of 120 teams in sacking the QB and we lose our best pass rusher off the DL. Our LBs are woefully undersized and can't seem to tackle anyone unless it's 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. Our safeties are the worst in the Ferentz Era....in fact, I'm struggling to remember a time when we had as bad of a returning pair of safeties in the last 30 years. BJ Lowery is highly overrated and we lose our best defensive player in Hyde. So yeah, other than those things, the defense should be solid.
