Was It Just Me? Anybody Else Notice?

During the Robert Morris game, did anybody else notice just how athletic the team looked compared to all the previous years? The entire team athleticism was noticeable to me. Active bodies playing D and not having to switch a ton, staying with players beyond the 3 pt line, dunking, etc. It was refreshing to say the least.

The ball movement alone was ten times more than what it was with Fran. They were flying around. The faster pace just looked more like a B1G team. Fran's squads always seemd like they were trying to force a square peg in a round hole and when we had standout players like Weezy, Garza, Jok, Uthoff, Murrays etc. it could work. But once NIL hit the scene and Fran didn't have stars like that it finally succumbed.

The other thing that stood out to me was the mismatches created by all that movement. A lot of those dunks were from movement that left a guard on a post player.

Definitely. It is kind of hard to fathom for me, how a bunch of Drake transfers, a Robert Morris transfer, seem so much more athletic than a big 10 Iowa team from the previous year/s

Exactly!

The spacing on offense and ball movement was superb. The defense was scrambling. The ball would get passed around 4-5 times without the ball hitting the floor then someone would cut to the hoop with a clean alley.

Fran clearly tried to bring in a bunch of long wing shooters. They could shoot but they were a liability on offense, and they also had problems getting an open or clean shot sec to not being as athletic compared to those guarding them.

Kind of pizzes ya off when thinking about it.

Remember all the dribbling by the guards at the top of the arc we would see in the past. Dribbling without a purpose.
