Va Tech's Jerseys

I think both teams' jerseys and uniforms are absolutely hideous and ugly. I think the Nike Pro Combat design line is gimmicky.

There will have to be a pretty big paycheck by Nike to the University of Iowa for KF to allow Iowa to wear them.

Go Hawks!

Yeah it is a gimmick. The Nike Pro Combat stuff is actually just new padding and dri-fit fabric that Nike started unveiling last year. The crazy jerseys are just a gimmick to draw attention to this. All of this uniforms are just used for a game or two at most by the teams. Saying Iowa is switching to Pro Combat design wouldn't mean any of the uniform design would have to change, just the fabric and materials used would change.

I would love to see the Hawks in flat black helmets with a black glossy tiger hawk on it. This would be awesome for a night black out game at home. All black unis with black pants - man that'd scare the crap out of me!!

I think this is the strategy by Nike. They have been unveiling new unis the last couple of years now. Like I said, the guy on the pay boards said Iowa will be switching to them next year. He said something to the fact that Kirk wasn't big on it but the money Nike was throwing in was too much to pass up.

Your talking about Iowa using for one game right, it's not like were changing for the season or ever right??? If it's just one game, I could care less. I think those Gold Top Practice Jerseys(like we saw the offence wearing in big ten network practice) look pretty cool. Wouldn't mind seeing those as our "special game Jerseys"

Both teams looked like an arena ball team. They're stupid.

If you don't like Iowa's uniform go away, you're not a hawkeye.

I thought they were trying to out ugly eachother

also, it really pisses me off when non-black teams wear black uniforms ... it cheapens the uniqueness of it

I'd love to see the Hawks in flat black helmets with gloss gold stripe and tigerhawk

Yuck- if we seriously go to anything that gimmicky even for one game that would just be ridiculous.

Mentioned this before, I'm not opposed to the pro combat thing- Alabama will have a pretty tame 2010 pro combat jersey design that is very similar to their current look. Ohio State has a Pro Combat planned for this year with a RED helmet and different number font as well.

AGREED!! Sickest helmets I've ever seen.

I'll take VT in all black every weekend as opposed to the uniforms they regularly wear that must have been designed by Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles.

Wow those West Virginia ones are pretty bad a** too! Hawk jerseys like that would be way sweet.

I disagree with the OP. I thought Boises weren't bad, but VT was just ridiculous. Whats with the TRON like circuitry in the numbers?

And why are they black?

The whole "Pro Combat" thing is dumb, lets all hope to god that they never do this for Iowa.

I'm sorry, I just don't get the apeal of the uniforms. There was quite literally, nothing to them.

VT was all black with the numbers having some color variances. Boise has what, one blue shoulder? I don't understand how what the big deal is. I personally think that the uniforms looked plain and ugly. About the only thing I liked about the uniforms was the flat black helmet of VT. I hated the stripes, but though that the flat color on the helmet was kind of cool.

As for changing Iowa's uniforms . . . hell no. These uniforms are modeled after the Steelers during the days of the steel curtain. They are clean, with not gimmicks or frills. I think that the entire Iowa fan base would hate any uniform change, like we did back when Iowa went to the stripes on their shoulders. Those things were hideous.
