Uthoff Deciding by Monday Night

But there has been a bad trend that has developed over the last few years where the most desirable talent has left the state and the kids that have stayed haven't had any high major offers and have lacked the physical tools or skills to be more than serviceable as Big Ten players.

Over the last four years we have had four players from Iowa Gatens, May, McCabe, Cougill.

McCabe and Gatens had other high offers and May panned out. I hardly think 1/4 is a trend.

May is gonna be a freak by junior and senior year. He is already pretty damn solid.

Seems like spursfan11's only goal was to come on here and flame-out as soon as humanly possible.

How old is he,exactly? I hope he grows another inch or two to 6'10''...that kind of length cannot be taught, and with his skills, he could be a tough matchup for small forwards and power forwards. Also would make him good at the point on the press,a la Ryan Bowen and Lohaus.

When did we become so good that players with offers from Illinois and Wisconsin are not good enough for us?

Exactly! If young Mr.Uthoff decides to cast his lot with the Hawks, I will be VERY happy! This would be a great pickup for the Hawks!

A lot of people place too much emphasis on national rankings. If this kid can play and is a legit 6'8" right now, you would assume that he may grow 1 to 2 more inches before he gets to college. He's a 3 Star per Scout and unranked by rivals and ESPN but those rankings will change.

He was the POY in conference and first team all state last year. He can shoot it from 3 and has some solid offensive skills. There is a reason he is being compared to Gordon Hayward. He's a tall gangly kid that can move around. He's not going to be your typical banging 4 or 5 but he will create offense and force the opposing team to step out of the lane thus opening up the middle for drives, dishes and offensive rebounds. He's a 4A kid and has played for the barnstormers for 3 years. He's made the AAU rounds and knows what it takes to win. He and Tuttle are the top 2 big men in the state.

Yes it would be a great start, there are folks out there that think Iowa shouldn't recruit Iowa kids.

There are some pretty good iowa kids out there, and they seem to get better and better each season. Wisc does nothing but win, and they do okay with Iowa kids. Maybe one day Iowa win some kids from cedar rapids area..Until then Iowa just has to find a way to win games with hidden gems, and lesser talent.
