Uthoff Deciding by Monday Night

Per Rob Howe Twitter "Jarrod Uthoff just said after PTL game that he will verbally commit to a college before he leaves for Vegas at 9pm Monday. #Iowa, #Wisconsin" Not sure if that means tomorrow or eight days, anybody know the AAU schedule?

The next tweet Howe says "Put your money on Iowa in your Jarrod Uthoff pool."

Imo this would be a great start and a big pickup for the Hawks. He has offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa State, Virginia, Arizona State, Butler, Northern Iowa, and Creighton. He has more B10 offers than the last 4 classes combined.

Twitter / Rob Howe: Jarrod Uthoff just said af ...

Its a positive step if we get him. We need to re-establish that this is the Hawkeye state, and that most kids growing up in this state desire to play for the Hawks. I think Gatens is the last Iowa recruit that we beat other BCS schools for. And we've lost Gibbs, JaBo, and Barnes. Sets a great precedent for the 2012 kids as well.

As far as talent 6'8" guys that can move and have ball skills are always useful.

Please go to Iowa. You can have Alex Thompson part 2.

Yes, very dumb. From the looks of it you must be a Cyclone fan. With that said, your response is that of a fan that if Uthoff does select Iowa over ISU, is probably the same Clone fan thinking that think Freddy will own in-state recruiting. Here is example one, if it goes down, shows it wont be the case. Try to cove it up any way you can.

Yes it would be a great start, there are folks out there that think Iowa shouldn't recruit Iowa kids.

This is willfully twisting what others have said on this board to further your agenda. I don't post hardly at all, but I've followed these "we should recruit Iowa kids" threads, and what people have really said is that it shouldn't matter where a kid comes from, as long as they can contribute. They've also said that if a kid from Iowa has legit skills, then by all means we should recruit them.

clown fan is downplaying their chance of landing him by saying 'he'll be the next AT', or we don't need him, etc. If they land him he'll be one of the greatest gets in years......

Some yes, others no.
I have no agenda, other than the hope that Iowa gets players, good players. I am not twisting anything, I have been ripped for saying Iowa needs to re-establish themselves as keeping the best kids in the state, when they are talented. The argument to that was Iowa would be over recruiting the state and Iowa would forever be bad...
For a long time Iowa recruited Michigan on a regular basis, not so much anymore, but I am hopeful with the Marble signing it leads back to getting more kids from that state. You can make the same case for the state of Illinois. Fact is Iowa has some quality players and there are people out there not wanting Iowa to recruit them. Oglesby and Uthoff are the two best players in the state and if Iowa gets one or both, I would be estactic and it goes hand in hand with what Coach Fran has said since getting hired.

This is SOP over on CF. If ISU and Iowa are both after a kid, and the kid is leaning towards the hawks, the kid is no good and will never amount to anything, and probably won't even make the team. If the kid is leaning towards ISU, he will no doubt be a consensus 1st team all american, and be the first pick in the draft.

I agree with you but we need to look in the mirror. If he goes to Iowa state posters will be saying they like Ross Travis more and this was a blessing in disguise. Or Uthoff wasn't big enough, doesn't fit Fran's system, isn't athletic etc.

Bottom line is both teams want him and he has a more impressive offer list than any other SF we're recruiting

The exact same thing happens here and every other school message board...I hope Hawk fans are patient with Uthoff if he comes here because he is definitely a redshirt candidate and a project. That being said, he is a project with major upside.

I think to be an Iowa fan, you have to be patient:D...Anyway, what would lead him to be redshirted?

I don't know, I haven't seen anyone ripping a kid because he chose ISU over Iowa while having offers from both. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that I haven't seen it.

That being said, I don't follow recruiting other than what I read here or in the paper. I find that trying to figure out what a 16-year old kid is going to do to be somewhat of an exercise in futility.

If this kid would be a good get, that's fantastic. If he doesn't come to Iowa, I wish him the best wherever he does end up.

Again, with this nonsense. And I am sure that the mouth breathers on here never do the same thing, do they?

It's a good pick up for Iowa. Be happy you got a good player. It's a win for the coaching staff, Iowa finally signed someone that lives 30 minutes from Iowa City.
