Finally, the decision on the NCAA investigation into the USC football/basketball programs will be announced this Friday.
While I certainly hope USC gets nailed, I have my doubts whether they will get anything more than a slap on the wrist. Who cares if they take away a past championship- sports fans remember USC won the 2004 football title, and taking away an already awarded crystal trophy, or changing the official NCAA record book doesn't change anything in my opinion.
USC's defense to the Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo allegations can best be described by Sgt. Schultz from the old Hogan's Heroes TV show... "I know nothing - I see nothing."
If the NCAA does not come down hard on USC for lack of institutional control, they might as well throw out this lack of institutional control rule, as every other school will just go with the "know nothing, see nothing" defense when a star athlete receives cash or gifts from an outside source while enrolled in that university.
