True Freshmen with no practice yet on the preseason depth chart?! That just should never happen at this level.
It's okay to let them earn playing time, but putting them there before practice even starts?
Just look at it as an opportunity for some young guys to get experience going forward. I think a lot of things are going to have to go really bad for this team to have a losing record.I'm too often a pessimist but even with this schedule, this team could have a losing record. Starting talent doesn't look too good and the team is very thin at all defensive positions. Injuries there, when they occur, will really hurt.
If nobody has improved and the young guys aren't any good it is going to be a horrible year.

Has anyone heard any news on the Hillyer kid from Texas? I thought he would possibly crack the 2 deeps this year
Newsflash: We're extremely young this year.
He's not a very good fit for Davis's system as things stand. He's a big body guy who isn't real quick off the line. Will likely have to adjust his game and get quicker to be able to consistently get on the field.
If all the starters get injured this team is in deep trouble.
I'm forgoing my birthday this year to remain a little younger as well.Newsflash: We're extremely young this year.

What if C-A-T spelled dog?
Wow. I've never heard this coming from a fanbase before. Seems like every year... ISU, Iowa, Nebraska... is just full of a bunch of 'young' players.
Point taken, and, hopefully the guys will improve as they gain experience. It's just a bit disconcerting that one of the redshirt freshman on the two deeps is a walk on. One would think that to advance to second string after one year, the person would have been a fairly decent rated recruit; this young man didn't even get a scholarship. Linebacker is thin.
That said, maybe he will turn out to be a diamond in the rough..

The Hawks have a history of that at Safety. Remember that great LB class with Poggi, Gray, and Morris?
