ugh they put us against a 3 pt shooting team...

VCU did outboard them by 13, shot 12/24 from 3 and held to Davidson to 26%3pt shooting. If we could do that, we'd win going away too. I know Davidson is a great shooting team from the arc but, as short as they are, Uthoff and Jok will be able to shoot flat-footed from the 3pt line without any worries. Can we defend them and hold onto the ball ourselves? This could be a game where our PGs' relative strengths- ball control, pretty good defenders, could pay dividends. Pound it inside boys!

Two of their top 3 scorers are 5'11". There number 1 and 4 scorers are 6'4".

Look at it this way, the only other 10 seed we could have gotten matched up with is Georgia. The other two 10 seeds are big ten teams.

We would all want to play Davidson over Georgia.

I only saw 1 game...when they should have lost to La Salle Friday. They lose the next day by 20...wasn't surprised. This is a very good draw.

Yeah people are making a huge deal of Davidson's 10 game winning streak, but the only NCAA tourney team they beat during that stretch was VCU...who turned around and rolled them by 20 yesterday.

Seems like Davidson will make their fair share of 3's, just like Indiana. So them making 12 3's against Iowa shouldn't be a huge surprise

They had 20 3's made in one game this year..

They scored 72 pts at Virginia... that's saying something.

On the other hand... doesn't look like they play a lot of defense.

This could be a really high scoring game.

Yeah they also made 14 against Lasalle and won by a point. That's pretty embarrassing. They were also down by 20 at a point. If the Hawks were to make 14 triples in a game they'd win by 30+ no matter opponent.

There a bunch of tiny dudes. It could easily be just like the Indiana game. I like this match up. Considering we're a 7 seed it could be a lot worse.

Their tallest starter is 6'7". The other starters ar 6'4", 6'4", 6' and 5'11". They have one guy that's 6'9" that comes in off the bench (and averages about 18 minutes a game). We need to press them and pound the ball inside.

No, it's the Iowa State Hawkeyes. Just ask ESPN.

Did anyone else hear Jimmy Jackson? First off, he talked about Iowa's matchup with Davidson saying it should be a win. Then he went on to talk about the second round game being very interesting as we would play ...... wait for it ..... SMU. He then went on to say we wouldn't do too well because of Larry Brown on the sideline.

Hey, Jimmy - WE ARE IOWA!!!!!

What I love the most is every single preview/early prediction I've read pegs Davidson to beat us and be this years Cinderella. Nobody is giving Iowa a chance to win. I love it. This game can't start soon enough.

I was thinking the same thing. They don't rven look at the specifics of the matchup. They just see its a 10/7 game so it's automatically an upset. If you look at details there is no reason iowa doesn't win.

It should be a really good game between 2 teams that are nothing alike. To add to the drama I'll be super drunk in vegas sporting my Iowa gear and talking trash to all zero of the Davidson fans I run into out there

Another thing that pops into my mind is Davidson has put up big offensive numbers and made lots of 3's..so I decided to look at their schedule this year. They didn't win 1 big game on the road or on a neutral court. They scored tons of points against teams like George Mason, Montana, Stetson, UNC Wilmington, Fordham, etc... They got drummed by North Carolina on a neutral court, lost by 11 against Virginia on the road(not terrible), lost to VCU on the road and then got destroyed a few days ago by the same VCU team they crushed at home a week before. All of their wins were at home. They won 10 straight at the end of the year. They beat Dayton handily(also at home) and beat Lasalle, UMass, etc.

Iowa beat UNC at Chapel Hill(they played bad but no excuses, so did we). We won at Ohio State as well. We played a much tougher schedule and we are a veteran group who took a Sweet 16 Tennessee team to overtime in last years NCAA Tourney, a lot of these guys played valuable minutes in that game. We have improved every year the last 5 years. No postseason, NIT 2nd round the next, NIT title game the next, NCAA Tourney loss the next, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we beat Davidson and lose to Gonzaga this year.

Imagine Iowa's offensive numbers playing Davidson's schedule. I just don't see how anyone can argue why Davidson is going to beat us off the straight facts. They haven't beat anyone in the NCAA tourney on neutral court or on the road this year.

I am very biased but am I wrong here..?

I completely agree, but then again Iowa lost stinkers to NW and Penn State and Iowa hasn't been so great on neutral courts this year so...
