Tyler Harris sets decision date

St. Johns - 98%, Providence - 1.5%, NC State - .49%, Iowa - .01%

Not even joking. He has been absolutely raving about St. Johns and the team. We are going to have to get a "big man" from the JUCO ranks. 2011 class is a wash - nice role players but no playmakers. 2012 class is the class that will decide Fran McCaffery's future.

Wish I could disagree, but I can't. Lavin killed it with the '11 recruiting class. Well, no one said it was going to be easy to get the program back to respectability. Hopefully Fran can do some nice things with the group he has. There's talent there.

Please provide proof of his 'raving'...and do not use twitter as I follow him and he has not raved on there...

I admit, St. Johns and Providence are likely ahead of us, but I do not think that we are far behind. I would say our weakness is our distance from his home, but even this might not be a consideration for Tyler.

Was on the scout board last night, and they dont have Harris ranked at all, I'm pretty sure rivals has him as a three star dont they? stars dont matter to me(not much at least) just found this odd.any input?

I'm hearing its NC State.

Yeah, I'm hearing people say that too, but it's only coming from Hawkeye fans (or trolls posing as Hawkeye fans).

The fact is that Tyler is on record earlier this week saying he still doesn't know for sure which school it is going to be yet only that he was down to four schools. Now he is down to three and getting closer to a decison.

IMPO, I think it is probably down to Iowa and NC State. I think Iowa will be his final decision based on his long relationship with Fran, more immediate playing time and the fact he will look better in Hawkeye colors.

Yes this will be the reason if he comes to Iowa. I mean this is why I'm a Hawkeye fan... I look good in black and gold

Harris has cancelled his visit to St Johns and has eliminated them. I'm hearing its NC State.

Harris will choose between Iowa and NC State. There are one of two choices:
1. Go to a program that is loaded at the SF position and playing time could be limited, but have a great shot at winning a conference title sooner, rather than later. If so, then it is NC State.
2. Go to a program that is in need of a player of his caliber that has some good young talent and a legit shot at starting and seeing the floor a ton in his freshman year, but no real shot at winning a conference title in the first two years on campus, but a slight chance at the NCAA. If so, then it is Iowa.

The one thing I know I am not going to do as a fan is get all gloomy if Harris does not come to Iowa. Look, the reality of the situation at Iowa is this: We are very down, but are assembling some real talent. May and Payne are going to really turn heads this year and this first recruiting class will be better than advertised. Iowa is going to surprise people this year, if and only if, the frontcourt can avoid foul trouble. The main thing Iowa needs to focus on for 2011 are some bigs that can simply run the floor and convert in transition and when the opportunity presents itself within the offense, just be a threat not a liability. The backcourt will carry the program because that is how it will be built.

So much for those percentages... :)

My friend, The Shadow, tells me that Keno Davis is the leader in the clubhouse. But Coach Fran is still on the course.

:)

I hold a little more hope for Eric Katenda, if he qualifies.

Hopefully Harris chooses Iowa over Providence. I heard a little while back that Katenda might reclassify to the class of 2012.
