Try harder, Kirk...

check out Billso, opening a can of whup-azz on Easton
sic 'im, Bills! Challenge him to meet any time, anywhere, in person so you can demonstrate your tuffness for realz!!

That's what I always do, when some anonymous guy on an insignificant college sports web forum gives me lip and sass.

Then why do you post here? You're apparently too good for us.

More likely, you're just another bitter failed athlete or coach, sniffing jocks for a scent of the big time you never achieved.

Sorry to have spoiled your evening. This really seems to have gotten you upset.

Let me guess you have written an article and got it on bleacherreport. That is the only explanation for your need to defend that site.

No, and I didn't defend bleacherreport, which has plenty of garbage articles; I defended the particular article and its author. You seem unable to understand the difference, Uncle Rico.

Why does this upset you so? Does it matter in your life? You seem to have some emotional tie to this to the point you need to attack someone. Do you need me to call someone for you? Perhaps get your meds upped for you?

So just curious, but would we be happier with the individuals were bringing in at this point if we went out and wasted time recruiting each of the top 150 in america that we have no shot at just to say at least they "put the time in". IMO I'd rather go after recruits that we are interested in and have a legitimate shot at then going after the 4 & 5* that we really don't have a shot at, just to please the masses.

Pleasing the masses is never a good reason, but why assume we "really don't have a shot" when Nebraska does? I think it's that attitude that rankles people. You can't win if you don't play. Again, we offered roughly 45 such players, Nebraska offered 129, even Illinois offered 91. Nebraska's landed nine so far, Iowa zero.

I say "roughly" because offers are based on what players self-report, so you can't rely on the absolute numbers. And ratings themselves are obviously subjective. However, across multiple players and schools this tends to balance out, so you can discern the relative numbers and broader trends.

Does Kirk believe an upgrade is needed in recruiting approach? Will the staff changes help recruiting? I hope so on both counts, but we won't really know until the 2014 class, since the 2013 class was well on its way before those changes. Pierschbacher was a nice start to 2014.

I agree that you can't get told no if you don't ask them to come, and I think that is a big part of the problem. I also can't believe the endless hand wringing that happens as we wait on the edge of our seats for the decision on these 4 and 5* recruits to make their decision. I am hoping that adding Brian, Levar and DJ Henderson will help in the recruitment of some of these younger players to Iowa. I think KF still has a message to get across to the recruits, but the new blood will help in getting them to at least listen to what that message is.
