Try harder, Kirk...

So, we know you can't/won't dispute his numbers and don't like that site. Thanks for the strong contribution.

No problem I was wondering how many posts it was gonna take for you to get it. Then I remembered you read bleacherreport. And I was gonna give up on you. You still have hope.

BleacherReport is not a person, it is a website. There are writers on BleacherReport who aren't worth one millisecond of our time, and there are some excellent ones. This article is by BGHP's Adam Jacobi, who has been very solid in the past. His data source on this article is 24/7, and it's an interesting take.

I would be interested in knowing what you consider strong sources for recruiting info.

Hence me saying site.

Why Iowa Is Having Its Problems in College Football Recruiting | Bleacher Report

"Still, Iowa's not exactly aggressive when it comes to offering top-level talent. Per 247Sports.com's list of Iowa offers, the Hawkeyes offered 45 prospects that were a 4-star or better on either 247Sports.com's service or its composite scores (which average in Rivals, Scout, and ESPN ratings for the same players). Forty-five sounds decent on its own, but then consider that Nebraska offered 129 such players. Ohio State offered 115 of them. Heck, Illinois offered 91."

So a while back I questioned if Iowa was trying as hard as it might at getting top-rated recruits to Iowa City and was villified for it.. Looks like I was on to something after all.

Yeah, it's bleacher report so some of you will say that this article should be ignored. But to me, it's pretty telling. I can respect a staff for at least attempting to get the top talent, even if it can't get them to commit. It would appear that our staff focuses more on 2-3* talent than it does the higher rated players. I find that disappointing.

Yep, you will probably get a small number of 4-5* recruits you offer to actually commit, but I would rather get a small percentage of 100 offers, than a small percentage of 40 offers.

But yeah, stars don't matter? If that were true, then it shouldn't matter that Alabama, Florida, USC, etc. land all the top talent in the country, and we should be able to compete with them.

Note that both those schools have recent probation issues.

So you think Iowa shouldn't try to recruit more 4-5* players because PSU's coaching staff covered up for a pedophile, and because some of OSU's players got free tattoos, etc? Sounds like sound logic to me.

You asked a question and I answered it, nimrod. It's not my fault that you're a dumb*ss. It's at this point that someone with even a modicum of intelligence would shut their yap and try and learn something from the smarter members of the class, but I can see that you clearly fail even that elementary IQ test. Feel free to p*ss off and wallow in your ignorance.

'76, I see you way out of line dumping on sparky for saying up front he doesnt know "all" about recruiting.

Most fans know the basic recruiting rules and follow who the hawks are after but they dont know every little rule.

^agree, like the old saying "you dont know if you dont try" the hawks have a lot to sell and offer and I think they should go after higher rated players. Sometimes I wonder if KF doesnt like to go after the high rated recruits becasue of some past problems with top talent.

So what you are saying is that nothing intelligent ever gets put in a high school newspaper or on a message board. I admit, the stuff that Miller guy puts on here is pretty lame, but some of us really understand football and recruiting. Then again with this moronic stance you have taken to continue to belittle the article because it came from a particular website, I'm sure you are still aspiring to get published in your high school newspaper. Good luck and have fun at prom.

You wanna come with me? Heard good things about you.

Missed the point entirely, but maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

Again, I would be interested in knowing what you consider strong sources for recruiting info.

Want to know why we don't get top recruits? Have you been in Iowa City the last couple of days? And this winter hasn't even been that bad...it's weather like the weather of the last few days that makes me amazed Kirk can get ANYONE to come here if they have other offers.

Heck, -10 degrees makes me wonder what I'm still doing here...and I've lived here my entire life.

Yeah Lincoln Nebraska is like Maui this time of year.

Coaches. Of course I don't freak out over recruiting service info since most of these guys are the same guys who post here or read bleacherreport

Then why do you post here? You're apparently too good for us.

More likely, you're just another bitter failed athlete or coach, sniffing jocks for a scent of the big time you never achieved.
