Trump supporters, how do you square this?

If we want the parties to work together just propose a congressional pay raise. For the most part politicians are there to get rich and help themselves. That is why the parties give us two candidates we would rather not have. And the candidates are almost always too old. The great unspoken issue in this election seems to have been that the public is not ready for a liberal black woman. I thought she was a good campaigner and that Trump was not this time.
With any luck, the country will never be ready for a liberal black woman. Now a conservative black woman, count me in.

My take as someone from the outside who's not a very political person or a trump supporter by any means, and I make take heat for this, but here we go. I despise Trump as a person, and not a fan of most of his policies, but obviously after last night I'm in the minority, which as a democrat in Iowa I already knew. I don't buy into most of the political BS as deep down I'm one that firmly believes it's nothing more then a popularity contest between two elitist parties battling for control of the country using us as pawns. With MAGA coming up winners last night they get 4 years to do exactly what they said and I have major concerns about how they're going to attempt to make changes internally to push their agenda.

That said, I'm not going to claim things are rigged, or bad mouth anyone that had opposing views. I'm going to continue to go about my life and maintain myself like I did yesterday, before Trump was given another 4 years. While I hate the end result I'm going to remain optimistic that somehow the people of this country come closer together, which I don't believe would have happened with a Harris victory, and that we continue to move forward and in four years maybe I'll find someone that gives me hope in a system that needs to truly needs be fixed.

I'm sarcastically thrilled that my cat will not be eaten, crime will disappear with the borders being close, all wars ending immediately, tariffs not drive up the cost of living even further, and that voters and elected officials at the state level will have more control over what a women choses to do with her body then they do. To be honest although defeated I can sit back and watch MAGA celebrate, because deep down I'm not sure anything really changes over the next 4 years to the point where half of what has been promised comes true. But while I have very little faith that things will get better (don't see things that bad now tbh) I hope things do for the sake of those that put their faith into someone I cannot and will not ever support, but someone I will still respectfully address as the POTUS despite loathing as a person and an individual.

Donald Trump - the twice impeached former president, Jan. 6 coup leader, convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, and the man who mismanaged the 2020 economic implosion and coronavirus disaster that killed more than 1 million people in this country has convinced American voters to give him another term in the White House.

Make sense of that

And don't give me any of that conspiracy bs, any one of those items should have ruined his election attempt. Do the voters really care about right and wrong anymore?

Decency is not on the checklist in America. Cheap gas, lies and criminal activity are on the wants list though. If this does work out as good as many think we should really look at getting our politicians from the prison systems, felons that steal from charity, practice business and election fraud would be very high on the list!

Welp...the American people (or at least a slight majority of them) have spoken. Not necessarily surprised, still a little dumbfounded by the whole thing. I guess we'll see how it works out. In the meanwhile, love thy neighbor!

I wonder if there is a scenario where the next four years makes people think "damn, I was lied to"?

If you blindly believe everything, then decency isn't an option either way.

If you really want to understand, watch Elon Musk on Rogan. That guy bought Twitter and has all the info on what went on behind the scenes. So he's in a unique position of knowing without a doubt the truth. Because of that, he's either completely telling the truth or completely lying. There's no gray area. Either way, his perspective is very believable and tells the story of why people are backing Trump right now.

Everything I mentioned is in the public court records, not lies similar to what Donald pushes - election stolen, dogs and cats eaten, Mexico will pay for the wall - I could go on for days for things on the record. Eyes wide open here and have a much better handle on reality than those that follow and support the ever lying felon.

If you're going to include Mexico paying for the wall, then you have to include a lot of things. In my opinion, that falls into a separate category of "politicians making promises they know they can't keep". That's very common for all of them.

It was a bloody slaughter, Mates

Apparently, the Democrat Political Strategy did not include the Middle Class

There are approximately 1.3 Million transgender folk in America

There are 333.29 Million folk in America

The hard-working Americans who pay income tax have felt forgotten

The Backbone of America has spoken

A simplistic view of one aspect of the situation

Threat to Democracy was the top issue for voters last night, even more than the Economy. Many people (15M less) just didn't vote, but the biggest swing were moderates that didn't vote for Trump last time, did this time and I think much of it has to do with the Democratic Party not having a Primary and the way the Press treats the former POTUS. It led to huge amounts of mail in voting for him.

I haven't looked at the numbers in individual states. Did Trump get more votes in swing states than last time? Or did Harris get less?

I do agree that threat to democracy was a pretty big issue because bypassing a primary and going after a political opponent is really bad, but I don't think it was a main issue.

My main issue is clearly non elected officials were running the white house the last four years and there's no reason not to assume it wouldn't be more of the same with Harris. I just can't invasion Harris standing up to the people who pulled off the coup on Biden. Well shit, now that I type it out, I guess threat to democracy was my main issue. Good call.

I wonder if Robert De Niro will be joining them?

Trump got more, rekindling the debate that the 2020 count in key swing states was fraudulent (it wasnt-gag me with a spoon)

Harris wasn't going to carry small towns and rural areas, so when reports came in that Trump was getting 40% and up in urban counties, she was in trouble. Biden carried 70% in many of those big cities in 2020.

Biden decided too late and to not seek re-election and Kamala picked a poor running mate. She also pandered toward celebrities and elitists and Trump shrewdly pandered toward middle America. Democrats not only lost the White House they lost the senate and fell further behind in the house as well.

As for me personally, after voting for Trump in 2016 and 2020 I cast my vote to Harris this time. It was the first time I voted Democrat since at least Clinton's first term. I am tired of 80 year old fogies in that office and wanted someone younger.

I have a feeling I may soon still get my wish.

I see what you did there. Nice.

There were 15M less votes cast for president in 2024 than 2020. So I also think a lot of people are just tired of the duolopoly and the political vitriol from both parties.
