Trouble in the Twin Cities

I just looked. It's a 2.3 GPA to play sports.

I still stand by the gist of my statement. A 2.3 undergrad GPA is not at all difficult to accomplish without cheating.

My kids include several engineers and an attorney. One of my kids is more quick witted than any of those, but has a learning disability. That is where the crux of grade issues often lies. Given that less than 1 in 3 people in the US complete a B.S. degree and Iowa is among the lowest college degree states, it's not as easy as one might think. Plenty of non-athlete players drop out. One of my kids played college athletics and the time consumption and dealing with injuries made school very challenging.

Look man, I know you don't like my post content because I'm not a politically-correct guy and that you think I make fun of things that I shouldn't. You seem to be a very "triggered" guy.

But I am not going to slap a disclaimer on every one of my posts to try and prevent every possible combination of people from getting offended. Every single thing posted anywhere can potentially offend someone and you're wasting your energy trying to police it. Learn to laugh at life instead of trying to correct others' thoughts. If you are hurt or offended by written words on a screen then you need to get tougher skin because the only one allowing the hurt is yourself.

If you want to play the game, then fine...I'll bite...

You opened your statement with "My kids include several engineers and an attorney." That statement was totally irrelevant to your post and was only intended to show everyone that you have a bunch of smart, successful, college-educated kids leading idyllic lives. You could have said said the same thing without bragging about their probably boring, yet high-paying, jobs. I am offended by that because I am not an engineer nor a lawyer, and it implies that I am not as smart and and that my job is not as important nor as prestigious, and it makes me feel like my self-worth just isn't there anymore. So please refrain from saying things like that because they hurt my feelings and upset me.

See how you sound when you bitch about stuff like this? Stop going out looking for a way to be a victim and chuckle when someone says the word cripple or makes a joke about how Lou Holtz sounds like he doesn't have a tongue. Try it. No one gets hurt and you'll have much less stress in your life.

And no, a 2.3 GPA isn't hard to accomplish.

With that many players involved it almost has to be some sort of academic scandal.
"Lee Hutton, an attorney representing several of the players, said the suspensions stem from an internal university investigation into the same Sept. 2 incident in a Dinkytown apartment that happened in the early morning hours after the team’s season-opening victory over Oregon State."

Unauthorized gang bang, would be my guess.

Gotta watch those ordinances in Minneapolis, man. Pulling a train with more than 5 people requires 30 day notice and a permit.

Huh? No, my point is that you can be smart and not do school well. College D1 athletics is not about academics. To pretend otherwise is silly. My quickest witted kid at figuring things out can't pass college math and can't get a degree. That child would make a great elementary school teacher, but it won't happen.

Speaking of triggered...whew....

For some people who are quite smart the 2.3 isn't that easy to get. In the past, I did get on you about a couple of things, I think something about Penn State was one of them. On this one I'm just saying that it's not that easy for some people.

If I get your "joke" about the sexual assault at MN? That's just plain not nice. Sorry if that triggers you. If you are going to make Big Boy jokes, be a big boy about responses.

This is the greatest and most accurate post in the history of the Universe. (not sarcasm)

Pretty much. And that's where it gets fuzzy... who said yes, how much did they say yes to, who snuck in on the back end (pun intended) and how much is buyer's remorse the next day. Alcohol usually plays a role too. Sexual assault is nasty stuff.

As opposed to an authorized gang bang? :)

Yeah, an "authorized" gang bang now needs 900+ guys, a film crew and "verification" for the record books...

Its not that long ago that something similar happened here.

What are you referencing? Nothing like this here in Iowa City.
