Trouble in the Twin Cities







I know I have said this here before, but Tracy Claeys is a very good football coach. It sounds like his players are just letting him down. again.

Academic cheating is a victimless crime...? Isn't it. It does say victim. Sounds like some sort of physical assault.

Involves some main players.

I thought the article said the victim was from something that happened earlier in the season and not this time around. Then again I only skimmed the article.
 


My kid goes to the U. Says there are a number of bad actors in the program...and it's known on campus., Kill was better as keeping them in line, he ran a tighter ship....since he stepped down, things have been slipping downhill.

This could be the excuse the admin needs to dump Claeys and go after a bigger fish (though only Mangino would fit that profile...if ya know what I mean) he he he....

Sexual assault case involving four players, including accusations of intimidating the alleged victim after she reported it. Perhaps that's where the additional players come into play.

Rumour has it that the suspensions are a smoke screen and necessary to stay under Claeys' food budget for the bowl trip. To piggyback on the previous comment about the U it is pretty well known up here in the cities that the athletes get away with a lot and have for awhile. I think with the new regime this will change and hopefully they are able to clean up the garbage just ask J Robinson.
 


UPDATE: Word on campus is academic fraud. Players getting grades they didn't earn. This won't end well for the Goophs. The NCAA will be visiting Minneapolis.

Sure will be fun busting my bro-in-law's chops at the family Christmas party Saturday.

Are you here to troll Iowa fans? First you go on and on about how Pollard is the best AD in history and now you puff up Tracy Claeys. Are we going to hear next that Pat Fitzgerald should be coaching the Hawks?

Sounds like someone got pissed about the sexual assaults getting swept under the rug and decided to spill the beans?

As someone with a bachelors degree it amazes me that there are people who absolutely can't finish the coursework. I don't mean to offend any college graduates here, but your run of the mill 4 year degrees are just not that tough to complete. It's basically just like doing high school all over again if you really think about it. I understand that specialized fields such as medicine, biology, and pretty much all of the sciences are ridiculously tough, but I'm assuming most of these guys aren't on the way to becoming the next Stephen Hawking.

If you strictly wanted to play football it wouldn't be that hard to find a coaster program, show up to your lectures, and bluff your way through it with a D average. Maybe I'm oversimplifying.

Based on a statement from one of the players' parents, it does seem to go back to the September assault. Interesting that my daughter maintains many on campus also believe their are academic issues with the football team. She says this has been a topic of discussion for some time among students.

I think you will find that student athletes need to maintain about a 'C' average to maintain their athletic eligibility and the grade average used to need to get higher the more years in school.
 


It happened after hours in a Dinkytown apartment after the Oregon State game. An academic issue? The only people I know who were studying on a Saturday night during football season were serious pre-med students. Are these guys all pre-med?

I just looked. It's a 2.3 GPA to play sports.

I still stand by the gist of my statement. A 2.3 undergrad GPA is not at all difficult to accomplish without cheating.

Yes, I think it may be even just less that a 2 pt for a freshman just getting used to school. But I agree, I am not trying to belittle degrees but there are a lot of general liberal arts degrees that give a broad education that these players should be able to maintain a 2.3 gpa.

The school is there to first off educate students. Sports is secondary or should be. I tell you a coach who makes even a million a year for a few years is making way more in that short time span than 99% of Americans make in 40 years and any coach who cheats should be banned for life from NCAA level coaching.
