4. Tommy Thompson (Iowa) Eighty-three-year-old Tommy Thompson has been going to Iowa football games so long that he remembers watching 1939 Heisman Trophy winner Nile Kinnick in action and even got to play a round of golf with the legend.
Thompson has seen a total of 710 Iowa football games in his lifetime, starting with a contest in 1937, when he was just 11.
With his wife deceased, Thompson travels to Iowa games with his buddies in a low-key Lincoln town car. As for the Sept. 18 matchup in Tucson with Arizona, he'll make that trek through the air.

Great fan, but I'm tempted to call BS on the "round of golf" claim. He would have been 12 or younger. Sure it's possible, but...

Not so fast: his first game was in '37 when he was 11. Kinnick was around until the war started in Dec '41. He could have played a round of golf with him when he was 15 and Kinnick in his twenties.

Over 700 games?

LOL .... fantastic !!!

BIG TIME DEDICATION

Hope a NC is coming Tommy's way very shortly

Is that "Tommy from Des Moines" AKA "The Govna"? If so, love that guy.
Tommy who used to be called swami by the sound off guys? If so the answer is "no". That TOmmy rarely goes to games as he has a disabled brother. There was an expose on him several years ago in the RAGister.

I remember #17 from the last time OSU came to Kinnick. He sat right in front of us, was actually a real nice and entertaining guy. Posed for pictures with and entertained many Hawkeye children. If only his team choice wasn't so poor.
