Tired of the KF is a good man talk...

For all I know Kurt is a good family man and runs a clean program. No hysteria on the sidelines like Pellini or Rhoads. He doesn't embarrass a program like Bobby Petrino.

However I also think that he has a moral obligation to realize he isn't living up to his contract, and his product on the field isn't worth the money he is getting paid. I realize he legally owed the money based on basic contract law.

If he is such a great moral man, with such impeccable ethics he would have stepped aside, realizing he is taking $4 mil + a year, for which he is not producing the desired result. So let's not put Ferentz on some great moral pedestal. If I were underproducing this much at my job, I would be expected to move on. I wouldn't be fired, but there are certain expectations in the real world about producing what you are paid to produce. I couldn't sleep at night thinking I was taking money from my employer yet producing very little.

He has made all the money he could ever want. If he was the great man everyone says,he would quietly step aside, leave the money on the table for the good of Iowa football...

could be that everyone will have "had enough" of KF after this season. And it will be very obvious.

A good man

Burning a redshirt for no reason is not classy. Swearing at the media when he thinks the cameras are off is not classy. Fart jokes are not classy.

His snarky attitude to the media makes me think kirk is not a friendly person to be around.

to be fair the media is populated by dimwitted, sanctimonious nimrods who know next to nothing yet think they know it all so it is easy to see why someone in KF's position would be unwilling to be cooperative with them. People in his position need the media but at the same time despise the media so they have to perform a balancing act between how they really feel and what they need from them when dealing with the fourth estate.

As everybody on here knows, I am very, very critical of kf. However, I certainly do not blame if he doesn't step aside. It's no doubt that he's not winning as everyone thought he would when he signed the contract, but his contract stated that he'd be paid that amount of money as HC of Iowa.

In his mind, he's doing all he can. We all know he's not, but he thinks he is. I will not disrespect him for staying on as HC. It's a contract and he is fulfilling his part of that contract even though he's not doing a good job.

The only way for change is to vote with your dollars. As long as we pack Kinnick, it will be status quo. And, if he eeks his way to 6 or 7 wins, all the better for him as he is doing just enough by getting to a bowl game (for the U of I, not the fans).

However, sadly, that really is our ceiling at this point so he would be over-achieving this year imho if he accomplishes that.

I'm like everybody else I just want us to win and every now and again maybe compete for the BIG championship but ill be honest I don't see us doing it with Ferentz.

Ferentz is never going to voluntarily opt out of his contract for the betterment of the program. And it's not about the money, either...I think he just wants to get to one more season like 2009 so he can retire and hand things off to Brian and keep it in the family. I honestly think that's his motivation anymore.

I keep hearing about Ferentz not leaving because he's making so much money. He has more money then he could spend in 20 lifetimes! If he's a great person he could have retired and lived the rest of his days in luxury while letting a real coach win some games here.

That may be a little harsh..I'm still holding out hope that he will be able to turn the train back on track. Although I think he hasn't done a good job lately, if he is truly staying just for the money then he is a giant pile of human garbage.

I forgot what I where I was going with this post cause I've had a couple of beverages. I think it had something to do with me still liking Ferentz, but also thinking he resembled Hitler, with the Iowa fans being Jews.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......................I wouldn't ban you for this, but Mr. Miller might.

If I was the AD... Ferentz woulda been fired right after that fake punt. I woulda walked down during the game and said bye. I haven't liked him for a couple years now but that for me was the breaking point. But if you want him gone, I think that play was a big step towards the door.

The situation is that Kirk is a good man, the type that you would trust to teach your kids in Sunday School. He also is a good coach, the type of coach that can finish in the top 10 several times. The type that can win a Big Ten Championship. The type that can recruit well to a school that isn't all that attractive to 5 star athletes. The type of coach that is effective in high school players living rooms and asking them to come play for Iowa. The type of guy that doesn't embarrass the program so many of us dearly support. Nuff said. Next topic.

To me, it always seems about the money.
Him and his agent stayed low and quiet between 2006 and 2008, when we were losing more B1G games than winning (11-13), despite being paid $3.7 million.
Then, in 2009, just about every bounce goes our way (except for Stanzi's injury) and he starts the Ferentz to NFL rumors again. Barta panics and signs him up for the next 11 years.

After the 2004, when his salary jumped to $3.2M (top 5), we saw a solid track record for 5 years (2000-2004).
After the Orange Bowl, I was a little hesitant. I remember the 2006 meltdown, 2007 home loss to Western Michigan, 2008 slow start (that Penn State win gave us lots of momentum until the 2010 Wisconsin loss).

The Peter Principle is a proposition that states that the members of an organization where promotion is based on achievement, success, and merit will eventually be promoted beyond their level of ability.

The Peter Principle applies to KF.

The OP reminds me of Charlie Sheen's "winning" rants. CS saw it so clearly he was "winning" but he was just on a drug binder.

KF's moral obligation? You cannot be serious.
