Tired of the KF is a good man talk...

I remember Hayden leveraging once, and that was in regard to leaving Iowa for USC in the late 80s.
I don't recall his salary being increased much, but he did get the investment into better facilities.
JH Fry was making under $200K (max of $50K/win in 1998) his last season at Iowa, and look at that Big Ten record, as well.

February 4, 1992 Chicago Sun-Times:
Iowa football coach Hayden Fry's contract has been extended three years through the 1997 season, the school announced Monday.

Athletic director Bob Bowlsby recommended the extension, which makes no immediate change in Fry's salary of $132,700. His pay is evaluated annually and would not change until the start of Iowa's fiscal year, which is July 1.

Fry, 62, has a 100-51-5 record in 13 seasons at Iowa, which was 10-1-1 last fall and finished second in the Big Ten Conference. The extension puts him under contract until June 30, 1998.

Since Fry became Iowa's coach in 1979, the Hawkeyes have won or shared three Big Ten titles.

The situation is that Kirk is a good man, the type that you would trust to teach your kids in Sunday School. He also is a good coach, link? There are no facts to support this argument. the type of coach that can finish in the top 10 several times. When loaded with NFL talent on defense, but the Cyclones and jNW say "hi". The type that can win a Big Ten Championship. (Shared) The type that can recruit well to a school that isn't all that attractive to 5 star athletes. Again his fault. The type of coach that is effective in high school players living rooms and asking them to come play for Iowa. (Ross Piersbacher) The type of guy that doesn't embarrass the program so many of us dearly support. Except in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012 Nuff said. Next topic.

If this year plays out like we thing and no bowl game next year - kirk will be gone - more like it was on his own terms but he will be.

Burning a redshirt for no reason is not classy. Swearing at the media when he thinks the cameras are off is not classy. Fart jokes are not classy.

His snarky attitude to the media makes me think kirk is not a friendly person to be around.

In other words, he's human.

He's not a saint by any means but probably an ok guy.

Ferentz is never going to voluntarily opt out of his contract for the betterment of the program. And it's not about the money, either...I think he just wants to get to one more season like 2009 so he can retire and hand things off to Brian and keep it in the family. I honestly think that's his motivation anymore.

I also think he wants to see it through with Steven as well.

Some you guys still think its all about football because thats all you care about. Once again. KF makes the big bucks because he brings in $$$$$$ Period

To me, it always seems about the money.
Him and his agent stayed low and quiet between 2006 and 2008, when we were losing more B1G games than winning (11-13), despite being paid $3.7 million.
Then, in 2009, just about every bounce goes our way (except for Stanzi's injury) and he starts the Ferentz to NFL rumors again. Barta panics and signs him up for the next 11 years.

After the 2004, when his salary jumped to $3.2M (top 5), we saw a solid track record for 5 years (2000-2004).
After the Orange Bowl, I was a little hesitant. I remember the 2006 meltdown, 2007 home loss to Western Michigan, 2008 slow start (that Penn State win gave us lots of momentum until the 2010 Wisconsin loss).
All very true. Good post.

could be that everyone will have "had enough" of KF after this season. And it will be very obvious.

A good man
another good man in the black and gold

Scooby makes a good point and it always comes around after we lose.
